specifically horror they will be
included we’ll also be discussing
various plot points of these movies so a
spoiler warning is in effect number 10 a
Clockwork Orange a Clockwork Orange is
undoubtedly one of the most notorious
movies of all time proving that you
don’t need actual blood and guts to be
controversial the movie based on Anthony
Burgess’s novel follows the delinquent
named Alex who undergoes experimental
treatment to curb his violent tendencies
due to Alex’s horrific behavior the
movie has garnered significant
controversy throughout the years
particularly for its infamous rape scene
in which Alex and his goons break into a
house and assault the occupant the movie
number 9 room no not the room although
that movie is quite disturbing in his
own way room is the 2015 movie starring
the brilliant brie Larson as a woman
forcibly kept captive for years who must
care for her son who was born into their
enclosed space and knows nothing of the
outside world
the movie is undeniably heartbreaking
and harrowing and the main concept alone
is enough to turn a few viewers stomachs
free Larson and Jacob Tremblay
performances are also unforgettable
perfectly portraying the fear paranoia
and eventual joy that comes from living
in and then escaping captivity the film
is definitely uplifting but it is also
incredibly upsetting and challenging on
many levels
[Music]
number 8 taxi driver taxi driver is
Martin Scorsese and Robert DeNiro at
their absolute best
it’s a classic psychological thriller
about a psychotic war veteran spending
his sleepless nights as a taxi driver
growing increasingly unhinged as he
prowls New York City’s streets
Robert DeNiro gives a career-defining
performance as the depressed and
troubled Travis Bickle and many of the
movie story beats are deeply troubling
including Jodie Foster’s turn as a child
prostitute the blood-drenched finale was
also extremely shocking back in 76 and
number 7 7 you know this isn’t gonna
have a happy ending 7 constantly skirts
the genre boundary of horror throughout
its consistently disturbing two-hour run
time yet never quite crosses that line
this is one of the most unsettling
thrillers of all time following two
detectives trying to solve the case of a
killer who is using the seven deadly
sins as his MO the movie is perpetually
dark and dreary both in terms of story
and setting and many of the murders are
particularly shocking to witness we
still have nightmares about the sloth
the finale is also one of cinema’s most
twisted and it has the power to leave
viewers disgusted for the rest of the
day seems that envy is my number six
American History X Danny had been
walking across the street that night and
Rodney King and cloudy if we just drop
this Rodney King thing American History
X is a terrifying tale for anyone with a
hint of humanity the story follows an ex
neo-nazi trying to prevent his younger
brother from adhering to the beliefs
that he once did
it’s a harrowing story about racism and
the uncomfortable fact that people like
this exist in our modern world the movie
also contains some extremely disturbing
scenes including the ending and the
infamous moment in which Edward Norton’s
character stomps the black man’s face
into a cement curb it’s the opposite of
a good time at the movies but it is
sadly necessary viewing number 5
Trainspotting this was a typical of
Mikey Forrester Trainspotting is equal
parts hilarity and disturbing realism
the movie follows a group of heroin
addicts who live in squalor
due to its fast-paced direction and
sharp script the movie is undoubtedly
funny but also isn’t afraid of revealing
the depravities of addiction and poverty
one notorious scene sees the protagonist
mark Renton fishing through diarrhea to
get his fix and another infamous scene
shows an addicts infant daughter dead
from neglect yes baby corpse and all
it’s one of the most horrifying things
number four deliverance even if you have
never seen deliverance you certainly
know if it’s infamous rape scene the
movie follows four friends who encounter
some violent backwoods Hicks while
canoeing through the gorge and
wilderness while the entire movie is
quite disturbing the sexual assault
scene is something else entirely
ed and Bobby are taken into the woods at
gunpoint and Bobby is raped while being
forced to squeal like a pig even though
Burt Reynolds is called deliverance his
best movie he has also said that the
Mel Gibson certainly knows how to make
an unsettling movie The Passion of the
Christ and its intensity took audiences
of back in 2004 and he followed that
offering up with the equally violent
although perhaps not as disturbing
Apocalypto in 2006 Passion of the Christ
follows the last hours of Jesus’s life
as he is tortured and crucified much of
the movies – our runtime is soaked in
blood torture and pain and the film was
heavily criticized for a success of
violence we realized that the story of
Jesus’s crucifixion is one of suffering
but the Passion of the Christ is easily
one of the most horrifying movies you
number two requiem for a dream and you
don’t seem to be responding I believe we
might be at a point where we might want
to try some alternative methods requiem
for a dream is more of an endurance test
than a movie if you make it to the end
then congratulations you are one tough
cookie requiem for a dream follows drug
addicts yes again as they sink deeper
and deeper into their miseries how well
trained spotting followed a similar
storyline that movie was also funny
this is just pure depression for 100
minutes you’re on office you’re on diet
pills ain’t you I told you I’m going to
a specialist that’s what I thought one
woman devolves into psychosis and
undergoes electroshock therapy
another sells her body for heroin and a
man has his arm amputated after his
injection sites get infected
it’s a hopelessly bleak movie that
before we unveil our topic here are a
few honorable mentions I’m going
straight to hell
eternal damnation a whole bit thank you
for asking
what’s he saying he says kill me over
this just the famed movie tells the real
story of Oscar Schindler a man who saved
over 1,000 Jews during World War two by
employing them in his factories while
that aspect of the movie is relatively
uplifting the rest is far scarier and
more disturbing than any fictional
horror movie could ever be scenes of
violent occupation shocked us with their
brutality and the camp scenes are
overwhelmingly disturbing with the
knowledge that events like those
depicted actually happened the scripting
camera never shy away from the
atrocities at the Holocaust and it makes
Schindler’s List one of the most
disturbing movies of all time do you
