Top 10 Honest Trailers Videos – TopX Ep. 36

hello and welcome to telefax where we
count down the very best of YouTube
I’m your host Dan and today we’re
checking out the top ten honest trailers
for this list we’re taking a look at the
top ten honest trailers are produced by
screen junkies for a ranked we used a
mix of personal preference folks from
our users and total views my suits turn
to black I like you but I think it’s
something bad you like it but you think
it’s something bad number 10
Twilight’s it’s always easy to rip on a
bad movie and this one is fish in a
barrel
up first is Twilight based on the
terrible books from one of the shittiest
authors of all time front and center in
this trailer is making fun of messed up
the plot of this movie is a
hundred-year-old vampire posing as a 17
year old who essentially stalks a young
girl and even sneaks into her room to
watch her sleep they had plenty of
material for this one last couple of
months I know this looks creepy but it’s
but it’s really romantic in the movie I
promise best part is probably when they
zero in on her inability to pour ketchup
I mean Bella sucks Kristen Stewart sucks
and her inability to pour ketchup number
nine Titanic it’s pretty obvious when
something’s a blatant cash grab and
that’s exactly what Titanic in 3d was in
2012 this was not lost on screen junkies
I mean they mentioned how rich this
movie made James Cameron twice in the
first 40 seconds of this clip 3ds so
real you can actually feel James Cameron
stealing money from your pocket one of
the greatest strengths of the screen
junkies guys and they’re honest trailers
is their comedic timing and their use of
sound like that big long pause after
Rose describes her erotic adventures
it’s the most erotic moment of my life
we do have to draw the line at making
fun of Celine Dion though lady is a
national icon and she looks good for 50
back off and that stupid pink song that
briefly tricked you into thinking Celine
Dion was on
number 8 Man of Steel comes the world’s
most hopeful superhero in his inevitable
dark Rudy Christopher Nolan update
because God forbid a Superman movie be
any damn fun for anybody so Superman’s
supposed to be a good and uplifting hero
who represents well good for the entire
world and it seems the Man of Steel
failed to capture that something that
honest trailers did not miss out on they
spend the majority of the time focusing
on this fact noting how the film
depresses adults and frightens kids
prepare for a mopey violent reboot
guaranteed to depress adults and
frighten small children perhaps the best
part of this trailer is that they show
that Superman can listen to both of his
Robin Hood dads and still show off his
powers and still let tons of innocent
people die at the same time what was I
supposed to do just let him die maybe
watch Superman honor them both as he
shows up his powers and let innocent
people die also extra points for
incorporating a good that’s what she
said like hey that’s what she said
number 7 transformers from the horseface
director who starts shooting before
finishing scripts as you can see the
earlier versions of honest trailers were
much shorter than they were today
kind of like trailers but anyway a
minute and 55 seconds is plenty of time
to rip apart a Michael Bay movie the
trailer hits all the obvious notes such
as the not so subtle racism and
stereotypes plus Bay’s over lights and
hot girls but they also look at how
stupid the ending is seriously
Megatron spends the whole movie trying
to get a cube that kills him then it
kills him
screen junkies also gets big props for
pointing out all the corporate sponsors
in this movie proving how media literate
they are they also do get half points
for pointing out that the Ninja Turtles
movie was going to be bad but we all saw
that coming right man the Ninja Turtles
are fucked number six
Batman and Robin now I mentioned earlier
that it’s always easier to rip on a bad
movie and clearly this was gonna be an
easy entry but the guys at screen
junkies only creative with this one in a
world full of crime one man is
determined to kill Batman once and for
all
his name is director Joel Schumacher for
example if they point out how this movie
is sort of like a less fun version of
the show from the 1960s check how well
it goes with the music seven minutes
never leave the cave without it this
trailer even features an apology by Joel
Schumacher which is nice but we really
need an apology for Jim Carrey lately
number five guardians of the galaxy what
starts out as your run-of-the-mill
honest trailer quickly takes a turn as
the narrator admits that you really
liked this movie we’re really reaching
there this was a fun movie as the
trailer points out they take a
relatively unknown comic book cast the
fat guy from Parks and Rec as their lead
star / Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel who
are left with voice over roles and fill
the screen with a bunch of obscure
characters whom no one has ever heard of
and then matte film becomes one of the
most popular movies of 2014 so
experience the swagger of a movie studio
drunk on its own power as Marvel trolls
the world with balls-out middle fingers
to the audience they know they have in
the palm of their hands as they cleverly
point out this movie follows a very
similar structure to the Avengers but
you know the day broke don’t fix it
number four the Dark Knight Rises
featuring red letter media The Dark
Knight was definitely a polarizing movie
either you loved it or you hated it so
here the screen junkies guys team up
with red letter media to make a trailer
for a movie that when you think about it
doesn’t make all that much sense from
director Christopher Nolan comes the
obligatory fan
Alley to His Dark Knight trilogy that
clearly peaked with the Joker my
favorite segment here is when they cut
to the guys from the red letter media
sitting in a darkened room surrounded by
beer bottles
despite their monotone voices and
somewhat disturbing surroundings these
guys actually asked thoughtful questions
and show some serious flaws in the
movie’s plot how is it possible that
Bruce Wayne completely healed his broken
back in less than three months didn’t he
need a doctor
plus I really did like their starring
section I’ve been saying for years that
to say Michael Caine all you have to say
is my cocaine and then you say it in his
voice
my cocaine Bruce Willis and babe
boo-boos
number three the Lord of the Rings when
you think of honest trailers you
probably think of that epic trailer
voice now with respect again and nickel
this is the first trailer done by John
Bailey who’s been doing them ever since
this trailer has all of the usual honest
trailer hallmarks including a hilarious
rundown of all the confusing and
difficult to pronounce names Sam and
also an epic Sean Bean death montage
if there’s one negative slight you could
throw against the Lord of the Rings
trilogy it’s that the ending of the
third one really drags something guys
did screen junkies were not about to let
go that took so much of Peter Jackson’s
life he didn’t want it to end
prompting five completely separate
endings that go on and on forever
number two frozen speaking of letting it
go the frozen trailer is the most
popular honest trailer available with 24
million views now to put that into
perspective Titanic the second most
popular has only about fourteen million
views so that pretty much proves that
frozen was just the most popular thing
ever from the studio that finally
learned how to make Pixar movies and the
songwriting duo behind hasa diga a boy
comes the feature-length music video for
let it go one of the best parts of this
honest trailer is when they point out
that Anna teams up with her sister
emergent a hot guy and a snowman
to defeat her sister a merchant a hot
guy and a snowman Disney might be losing
its touch as the first animated honest
trailer screen junkies decided to mix
things up and add their own words to the
popular songs from the film including do
you want to build a snowman which they
entitled the exposition song and let it
go retitled as the yellow saw
before we get to our topic let’s take a
look at some frugally honest honorable
mentions journey to Pride Rock and
animal kingdom with some incredibly
generous boarders everything the light
touches is our kingdom this summer
prepare for the poorly directed movie
adaptation of the young adult phenomenon
that isn’t about gay vampires The Hunger
Games prepare for the most original
sci-fi franchise since Star Wars that
ultimately went all Jar Jar Binks on
itself
kinda like Star Wars meet Neytiri but
more importantly meet her side blooms
together they’ll learn military bad
freeze good comes the poorly directed
lazily written terribly shot poorly
acted clumsily edited oddly paced
insulting adaptation of The Last
Airbender and probably converted 3d from
the creator of your older sister’s
favorite 80s movies and the Chris
Columbus that didn’t kill any Indians
comes the Christmas classic that cable
channels have rerun every holiday season
for the last 20 years 20 god that makes
me feel old
number one the Avengers the Marvel
movies rule the cinematic world these
days in large part thanks to the success
of the Avengers now screen junkies
really knocks that out of the park with
this one – providing a genuine
appreciation for a good film while still
nitpicking and pointing out a few things
that you might not have noticed from
Joss Whedon
god of the Nerds comes the movie
blockbuster that finally unites the
world’s greatest superheroes that Marvel
still has the rights to a personal
favorite part of this trailer for me is
when they run through each super hero of
the film stating how Ironman needed to
redeem himself from the terrible Iron
Man – and how Captain America needed to
be there despite being no one’s favorite
character Captain America no one’s
favorite character who just kinda has to
be there
another classic moment is the created
bromance between Tony Stark and Bruce
Banner complete with smooth jazz
