series

number nine
dueling analogues Stephen appear ski
after inserting the Konami code into the
Last Supper and parodying the book and
film The Da Vinci Code in the strip so
dark the contra of man
this comic became an overnight success
that strip is indicative of the comic as
a whole which more often than not
features one shots poking fun at various
trends of current events in the gaming
industry
however the comic also uses a number of
recurring characters many representing
gaming companies such as Jeremy the Sony
PR gnome and of course Mario himself
[Music]
number eight
magical game time Zack Gorman unlike the

traditional comic panel artwork with
animated gifs resulting in some of the
most beautifully and aesthetically
unique web comics on the internet strips
commonly feature videogame characters

have work to do
will you get out of my office do you
mean your cubicle I’m in my office
centered around a fictional videogame
magazine PvP is perfectly poised to
provide meta commentary on both the
gaming industry and those to play games
over the years the comic has seen the
industry transformed multiple times as
pvp was one of the first ever online
comics about video games and is rightly
hailed as an innovator in the genre oh
hey did you catch that last episode of
events in the series often reflect both
changing transit video games and the
real life of Kurtz and with more than a
decade and a half of storylines PvP
features a rich backstory and a diverse
set of characters go get me a cup of
coffee
get your own cup of coffee skull oh yeah
coffee oh right right away number 5 BG
cats Scott Ram Sameer
oh dude I’ve totally wrote my Katamari
over a cow this is also if there are two
things that the internet loves its cats
and video games so combining them proved
to be a stroke of genius as the name
would imply the comic features a variety
of anthropomorphic cats including its
main characters named eros and Leo only
we
some kind of distraction or offering we
could sneak by of course the appeal
stretches beyond it’s adorable main
characters as the commentary and humour
of the strip is what truly makes it
memorable these characters are
frequently featured within a different
games universe in each strip in order to
parody specific franchises as well as
the industry as a whole
I thought ma’am get a bigger pen 15 –
dang what number for control-alt-delete
tim buckley um excuse me
I need to know halo will play on my ps2
I’m sorry I don’t speak stupid despite

need for nutritional sustenance
despite the comics shift away from
one-off gangs and the move towards a
more coherent and drawn-out story it’s
humor in popularity have remained
consistent
welcome to game didn’t get a hope you
find anything hey the comic also
occasionally touches on more serious
issues including a plot evolving a
tragic miscarriage
CID now has gone on to spin off into a
number of webcomic shorts

game characters presenting Mars as a
narcistic pretty boy and featuring a
variety of different links give it a
swing hmm hmm the comic will also often
parody games directly including of

number two 8-bit theater brian Clevinger
this sprite comic which uses blocky
old-school video game graphics began as
a farce of multiple classic video games
but eventually narrowed its focus to
final fantasy while the characters are
parodies of the classes in Final Fantasy
they take on much different roles with
the usually noble white mages from the
games often acting quite selfishly
likewise storylines and many of the
characters act as parodies of
traditional RPGs let me explain just
five minutes you’re gonna regret this
alright
unlike the other comics ranking on this
list this comics overarching story
actually came to a conclusion in true

variety of video games in a beautifully
vulgar fashion however there are a few
exceptions where they go for longer
plots hey max remember when you found
that time machine and went back to 1964
and met mama Bosco yeah
