movies on netflix right now before we

for this list we’re taking a look at
movies currently streaming on Netflix
that stand out due to their convoluted
plots odd themes and all-around
weirdness nobody’s ever made me choose
to move up but you can’t forever number
10 def gasm it’s really saying something
when a movie called def chasm barely
cracks the top-10 this horror comedy
relishes in its grindhouse charm
occupying every scene with hyperactive
editing gut-busting gore and unreal
imagery that’ll make the audience feel
as if they’ve descended into hell the
story for what it is
follows a group of teens who unwittingly
summon a satanic creature what do you
at the center of everything is a clear
admiration for the heavy metal genre
resulting in a lot of shots that it feel
right at home on a Slayer or Metallica
album cover for those with an out-there
sense of humor and a taste for this
brand of music it is one wild ride
number nine old boy this South Korean
drama earns a spot on our countdown for
its audacity to venture into some
incredibly dark and unsettling places
the plot revolves around a man who’s
kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years
why was he locked up who took him
prisoner
why is his cell a hotel room question
the road to these answers is laced with
revenge tragedy and graphic violence to
delve into the many twists and turns an
old boy would do the film a great
disservice let’s just say that if you’re
in the mood for something that’s as
gritty as it is gripping check this one
out it’s a rewarding albeit bizarre
experience that will stick with you long
after the credits roll oh yeah number 8
Cloud Atlas when a film brings together
the team behind the matrix and the
director of Run Lola Run you can expect
a cinematic journey that’s equally
ambitious and confusing the moon’s
broken I think it’s still widely debated
if Cloud Atlas is an unsung masterpiece
or an over long incomprehensible mess no
matter where you stand we can all agree
that the film’s epic scope is only
matched by its outlandish nature the
movie tells a variety of different
stories that span across the past
present and future the idea of
reincarnation as well as the diverse
ensemble cast provide a link between
these peculiar tales whether you find a
picture profound or pretentious there’s
nothing else quite like it enjoy your
number seven Eyes Wide Shut director
Stanley Kubrick’s last film is also one
of his more surreal which says a lot
given his body of work
passwords for David Tom Cruise stars as
a married man contemplating cheating on
his wife leading him to a masked orgy
run by an Illuminati Lake society the
deeper our protagonist digs himself into
trouble no stranger matters get remove
your clothes
Kubrick blurs the lines between what’s
real and what’s imaginary sending the
audience into a dreamlike state where
you can rarely tell if you’re awake or
asleep
perhaps that’s fitting seeing as how the
film is called Eyes Wide Shut eerie
mystifying and oddly entrancing this
movie must be seen to be believed
so take a look behind the mask what is
gonna happen no one can change of fate
now number six the ABCs of death this
anthology film is a mixed bag which
isn’t surprising seeing as how
twenty-six different directors
contributed as you might have guessed
each director takes on a different
letter of the alphabet with titles like
a is for apocalypse
I is for ingrown and W is for WTF the
audience is of course in store for a
smorgasbord of insanity
while the shorts themselves are largely
hit or miss they all deliver something
uniquely disturbing the eccentric cast
of characters includes a perverted
janitor a man-eating claymation toilet
and a Nazi dressed as a furry a frizzy
if you will yeah this one isn’t for the
faint of heart but there’s definitely an
audience out there for it
[Music]
number-5 wetlands if you think bigmouth
is the grossest coming-of-age story on
Netflix
then you clearly haven’t seen this
German dramedy vitani mundum my 10 it
the film is called wetlands for a pretty
depraved reason mixing together a
cinematic cocktail of almost all the
bodily fluids you can think of actress
Carla Yuri delivers a fearless
performances Helen a young woman who
doesn’t understand the appeal of hygiene
or a good taste for that matter with
scenes involving anal shaving and
ejaculating onto a slice of pizza
wetlands is a challenging film to get
through if you’re even a little bit
squeamish behind the cringe factor
though there’s something humorous and
even insightful to be found the
should’ve victories that didn’t come in
King Tom number four mr. nobody despite
featuring well-established actors like
Jared Leto and Diane Kruger you’ve
probably never heard of this sci-fi film
we don’t know who mr. nobody is mad that
is he following its premiere at the 66th
Venice International Film Festival mr.
nobody wouldn’t get a US release for
another four years now that it’s been
made more widely available you can
appreciate the film in all of its
irregular glory I always like to fish I
never thought that one day they would
like me to torn between living with his
mother or father
Nemo nobody is confronted by an
uncertain future with an infinite number
of outcomes as a 118 year old mr. nobody
reflects on his fractured memories and
we’re treated to a philosophical voyage
that’s sure to inspire plenty of think
pieces and deep conversations even if
[Music]
number three Donnie Darko with an
unconventional story that involves time
travel for Texas and the creepiest
looking bunny in all of film it makes
sense that Donnie Darko wasn’t a
a movie this unusually creative was
destined to find a cult following on
home video however centered on a teenage
boy who may be the key to preventing
doomsday you can’t call yourself a truce
in a file until you’ve checked out this
twisted indie flick if this that’s not
to say the film’s puzzling plot is going
to appeal to everybody thanks to its
haunting atmosphere and
thought-provoking themes though Richard
Kelly’s film is a trip down the rabbit
hole unlike any other a very very mad
world indeed number two the human
centipede first sequence since first
hitting the scene in 2009 the human
centipede has gained a lot more
attention among mainstream audiences
even if you haven’t actually watched the
film chances are you at least know about
the demented premise if the film is
somehow eluded you up until this point
here’s the deal a mad German doctor
takes three people captive and sews them
together from mouth to anus is there
really any need to go into greater
Pass me the synopsis alone should be
enough to tell anybody whether or not
this movie will be up their alley for
those with a strong enough stomach
proceed with caution and judge it for
yourself before we unveil our number one
number one teeth a sexually repressed
young woman discovers that she has a set
of teeth in her vagina leaving behind a
trail of castrated men
[Music]
we’re not kidding that’s the setup of
this horror comedy
although teeth could have very easily
coasted by on shock value alone the
story does have something empowering to
say about feminism and standing up
against sexual assault in an era of the
me2 and times up movements you could
even argue that the film is more
relevant today than it was back in 2007
maybe we’re reading too much into the
themes here but however you choose to
interpret this bizarre film it is truly
one of a kind do you agree with our
picks check out these other great clips
