[Music]
flip up your collar and get into your
mind palace welcome to watchmojo.com
today we’re counting down our picks for
the top 10 moments from Sherlock board
Natalia
we’ve uncovered after careful deduction
the greatest moments from the first
three series of this BBC production as
you can expect there are some spoilers
ahead so spoiler alert now let’s start
the investigation err countdown what are
you gonna wear my battle dress ducky boy
number 10 Moriarty’s cameo the
abominable bride
it’s a dangerous harvest finger loaded
firearms in the pocket of one’s dressing
gun or are you just pleased to see me
Sherlock may not have been pleased to
see Moriarty
but his cameo sure as hell got fans
excitement actor Andrew Scott’s
portrayal of Sherlock’s nemesis has
always been a perfect match for Benedict
Cumberbatch’s calm and calculated
Sherlock and his unpredictability is in
full swing here
every action Moriarty takes every word
he says is as engaging as it is creepy
you know the dust is largely composed of
human skin yes this small scene is
packed with references to some of the
best moments of the other series and
while it may be considered heavy-handed
fanservice it’s all put together so well
that most of us simply don’t care so you
die
why aren’t you dead because it’s not the
fall that kills you Sherlock of all
people you should know that it’s not
fall it’s never the ball number 9
John’s graveyard speech the Reichenbach
Fall he told me once ah that you won to
hero after Sherlock seemingly took his
final dive off the rooftop viewers and
characters alike were led to believe
that it was the detectives last bow John
as a functional human being is
distraught to think that his best friend
is dead and he communicates his woes in
a touching private speech over Holmes
grave
ok there’s just one more thing like one
more thing one more miracle Sherlock for
me
don’t be he’s always been one to speak
his mind but his frustrations with
Sherlock always kept John from being
openly honest about his feelings luckily
Sherlock isn’t actually dead and spoiler
alert the detective himself witnesses
the speech
[Music]
number eight Sherlock is shot his last
vow edition if you’re going to commit
murder might consider changing your
perfume lady Smallwood sorry oh
[Music]
the series 3 finale is packed with
enough twists and turns to make even the
biggest mystery fans head spin in this
mind-bending scene Watson’s wife shoots
Sherlock in the chest he was so
confident that he knew her and the
situation well enough to be safe but of
course his ego clouds his judgment
oh sure look if you take one more step I
swear I will kill you no mrs. Watson you
won’t
[Music]
the detectives first reaction is to fire
up the mind Palace and reason his way
out of the situation the scene is
strangely touching because we see a
rigidly mechanical mind unable to come
to terms with the possibility of death
so well incur by having a mind Palace
maybe only three seconds of
consciousness left to use it so come on
what’s going to kill you Blanco’s number
seven I am Sherlock a scandal in
Belgravia you’re chosen any random
number walked out of here today with
everything you’ve worked for you just
couldn’t resist it could you I’ve always
assumed that love is a dangerous
disadvantage thank you for the final
proof the sexual tension between
Sherlock and Irene reaches a breaking
point in this scene Adler who believes
she has duped not only the British
government but also Sherlock himself is
shocked to find our favorite sleuth is
two steps ahead Adler cellphone which
contains extremely sensitive government
secrets is password-protected which ends
up being sh e our share video I said
it’s the real
I was just playing the game
and this is just losing
we soon find out though that the
greatest detective has not let human
emotions become his weakness
even though idler proved herself a
challenge for Sherlock he still gets to
remain the smartest person on the show
you’re right
I won’t even lost six months sorry about
dinner number six
Sherlock at buckingham palace a scandal
in Belgravia tall brooding and brilliant
Sherlock is also notoriously hard to
work with this fact is compounded when
his brother Mycroft appears to insist
that he take on a high-profile case the
mystery in question involves the highest
powers in England and is therefore
shrouded in secrecy Sherlock Holmes put
your trousers on for your client and my
client is a lost face in the extreme and
remaining I have to inform you entirely
anonymous this does not sit well with
Sherlock who throws a tantrum in the
middle of Buckingham Palace the result
is a grown man who refuses to get
dressed even in the presence of royalty
this is a matter of national importance
grow up my sheet or what I’ll just walk
away I’ll let you boys please not here
number five the pools and up the great
game this is a turn-up isn’t it Sherlock
chart
what the hell bet you never saw this
coming Sherlock and Moriarty first real
confrontation comes at the end of series
1 in this pulse-pounding scene John
seemingly lures Sherlock into a trap
only he’s being held hostage and is
strapped with an explosive vest when
Sherlock’s nemesis finally reveals
himself we meet a villain who is all too
happy to play games Jim Moriarty hi but
in true Holmes Ian fashion there are
multiple reversals until everyone
involved is held at gunpoint setting up
a running theme series one ends with a
cliffhanger I won’t try to convince you
everything I have to say is already
crossed your mind
number 4 best man’s speech the sign of
three I am the most unpleasant rude
ignorant and all-round obnoxious
arsehole that anyone could possibly have
the misfortune to meet Sherlock Holmes
is truly in his element when he’s
solving mysteries and fighting bad guys
it’s when faced with the baffling
mechanics of interpersonal relationships
that the great detective is lost exceed
we had huge expectations for his speech
at Watson’s wedding whether or not it
would actually go well however was
definitely up in the air maybe a but the
store or a catapult somebody tiny could
crawl in there so yeah we’re looking for
a dwarf brilliant really no this whole
episode is centered around it and
Sherlock isn’t exactly qualified to talk
about love empathy and respect but true
to his character Holmes uses the
opportunity to solve a series of
seemingly unrelated crimes so we can
forgive him a few awkward moments who go
to a wedding that’s the question who
would bother to go to any lengths to get
themselves to a wedding
number three Irene Adler’s entrance a
scandal in Belgravia you’ve been hurt I
think he caught your name
I’m so sorry I’m
[Music]
how it’s always hard to remember an
alias when you’ve had a fright
as with most events in a series this
scene was ripped straight out of the
literary source material with a few
evocative editions or in this case
removals I miss something I thought in a
mutual bid to stump one another Irene
Adler and Sherlock Holmes put on their
best disguises in Irene’s case this just
so happens to be nothing at all we
realized just how reliant Holmes is on
his powers of observation but with both
nothing and everything for him to see
here the detective is completely baffled
do you know is a big problem with the
disguise mr. Holmes
whoever hard you try it’s always a
self-portrait viewers get their first
peek at a wrong-footed Sherlock who
attempts to use his considerable
brainpower in the face of primal human
desire look at naked women I borrow
John’s laptop et borrow my laptop i
confiscated number two Sherlock and
Watson get drunk the sign of three in an
attempt to show his friend a good time
Sherlock takes his bestman duties really
seriously for a high-functioning
sociopath this means taking Jon to all
the crime scenes they ever investigated
and making a pub crawl out of it as the
night progresses
both detective and assistants soon
discover that their constitutions aren’t
what they thought they were
don’t tell me I
the fun at this moment is seeing
Sherlock and Watson act like two
relatively normal best friends crazy we
know but it’s really a beautiful moment
of honesty between the two beloved
characters all my opponents just some
people do people like me no they don’t
you tend to rub them up the wrong way
okay
before the clues let us deduce our
number one pick here are a few honorable
mentions I don’t write bitch here boy
come on cousin took
[Music]
you
I’m not a hero I’m a high-functioning
sociopath Merry Christmas
number one the rooftop jump the
Reichenbach Fall as long as I’m alive
you can save your friends
you got away well good luck with that in
the decisive scene from the first two
series Sherlock finds himself at a loss
against the villainous Moriarty the
whole scene is an homage to Arthur Conan
Doyle’s original story the final problem
and the famous scene where Sherlock and
Moriarty fall to better apparent deaths
over the edge of the Reichenbach falls
in this version though Sherlock is
instead forced to take a fatal leap to
save his friends
chug I feel lucky okay turn around I
walk back the way you came I’m coming in
to as I ask those viewers who watched it
when the show aired and who weren’t yet
privy to the elaborate clarifications of
Series three it was a shocking moment to
believe that Moriarty had finally
stumped the great detective forcing him
to make the ultimate sacrifice
