you may think the only thing you need to
do to get your car ready for winter is
to change the tires but that is not the
case hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome
to watchmojo.com and today I’ll be
showing you how to prepare your car for
winter the most important thing for a
driver is to be in contact with the road
at all times so therefore having snow
sludge so on and so forth will affect
the grip less grip means more chance of
having an incident how important is it
to monitor our tire pressure I would
recommend to check your tire pressure at
least once a month because you could
lose up to one pound even with a brand
new tire what pieces should we be
carrying with us at all times during the
winter months
fluids wipers not only you’re about to
see but that people are also able to see
you so you have to check your brake
lights flashers so on and so forth how
often should we be topping up our fluids
engine fluids wiper fluid that kind of
thing well you obviously you want to
check your your oil fluid for sure but
most importantly it’s your windshield
wiper wiper fluid you usually use more
than you think and usually run out when
it’s not time so again I would recommend
every couple of stop at the gas station
to fill it up so you don’t get caught by
surprise what inspection should we do at
the beginning of winter battery would be
a good example especially if your car is
more than five years old
lifetime of a batteries plus or minus
five years and I would say after three
years it may be time to think about
changing your battery so that would be
something very important especially for
winter because of extreme condition and
because it’s cold the battery will be
not as powerful if you want in a way so
making sure your car will start every
morning so battery would be a good
example of things you should be looking
at are there any winter driving tips
you’d be able to give us making sure
everything is clean your windows so on
and so forth and I do recommend people
to to be more cautious obviously in the
winter time sometime we have a hard time
understanding the braking distance but
braking distance are
are much longer in the wintertime always
give yourself a way out what I mean by
that is when you drive try to always
think if something happened what could I
do could I find a way out or go around
this car so on and so forth so it’s
basically slowing down it’s very
important and making sure that you don’t
over estimate your driving abilities and
you don’t underestimate the surface grip
so just be more alert thank you very
much it’s my pleasure thank you very
much
