Test Drive: 2011 Subaru Forester

if you don’t know super already maybe
it’s about time you did hi I’m Randall
Lightstone watchmojo.com and today we’re
taking a look at the brand new Forester
2.5 X both inside and out the Subaru
Forester doesn’t really have a whole lot
of wow features going on it’s a very
simple almost a mundane car and that’s
really okay because Subarus are really
all about functionality and usability
now on the exterior this Forester hasn’t
seen a lot of change from 2010 which in
the past subaru has been known to update
their front facade their grilles and
kind of be very extreme in their designs
however this year in the 2011 the
forester looks pretty much the same as a
2010 even on the inside there hasn’t
been a great deal of change your
standard radio here you’ve got your
steering wheel mounted cruise control
radio buttons their climate control here
really it’s all very functional very
where you’d want it to be and that’s
what Subarus are what you have is an all
wheel drive vehicle it’s good in any
weather on any terrain that fits the
kids in your cargo in the bag and it’s
gonna last for years to come even though
the Subaru Forester isn’t highly
exciting I do enjoy driving it and
there’s a nice responsive throttle and I
like the way it handles even though it’s
a crossover and it sits a bit higher up
I still feels really good in the corners
and has really good pickup and you leave
a stop sign but I don’t really like is
that the transmission is actually only
four gears even when you have it in
sport mode you’re only working with four
and they’re gonna find that if it’s
strange blissfully though it’s not a CVT
so it does shift but with four years I
kind of feel like I’m lacking that I’m
always my revs are gonna always be
really high and I don’t really like that
then of course because it was a Subaru
it has a horizontally opposed Boxster
engine it’s a 2.5 liter that pushes out
170 horsepower and 174 pounds of torque
again not massive numbers this isn’t a
sporty speedy car but enough to get you
through the winter and to get you
through any other driving conditions
that you might have in the subaru
forrester
the beautiful thing about Subarus is
their all-wheel-drive system unlike any
other all wheel drive car their system
works all four wheels all the time which
is why it’s called asymmetrical all time
all-wheel drive there’s no fancy
computer system fiddling with which
wheel needs what power when it’s always
on it’s always there it’s all wheel
drive
that’s how it works and that’s really
what’s that Subaru apart from any other
all-over drive vehicle on the road I
Drive a Subaru on a daily basis when I’m
not driving the test vehicles and I
really feel the difference when I get
into an all wheel drive vehicle that’s
not a Subaru truly at Subarus a
symmetrical all-wheel drive system that
really pulls in the buyers and if you’re
in the market for a safe winter car that
also has a lot of cargo space you might
might check out the Forester
