Test Drive: 2011 Nissan Juke

this Juke is no joke hi I’m Miranda
light stone with watchmojo.com and today
we’re gonna take a ride in Nissan’s
latest compact sport crossover the
Nissan Juke it’s quite clear that the
design of the Juke is one-of-a-kind
however the elements that make up that
design aren’t that original from the
back end you’ll notice the car looks a
lot like the Versa
and these rear taillights here bar from
the 370 in this L shape if we continue
on you’ll think the car might be a coupe
but actually it’s a four-door and this
rear passenger door here again borrows
from the 370 in this V shape if we
continue on to the front I think this
car borrows from a rather amphibious
creature called a frog the front end
looks like it belongs in the water with
two sets of headlights and fogs in the
bottom it’s such an original facade that
not a lot of people are gonna like it
but it does set it apart from any other
Nissan in the lineup I want to talk
about the Nissan Juke in terms of first
impressions you’re looking at photos of
this car from the inside and the out I
really didn’t like it but now I’m
sitting in the car and I actually really
like the design you can see what they
did borrow from other models the dash is
very rogue like the steering wheel is
available on the Versa the rogue the
Murano it’s all very much the same but
it’s this middle console where the Juke
really shines now has this new
integrated climate and drive mode or
integrated control system where you can
change the drive from sport to eco to
normal you can also adjust the climate
it’s all very futuristic and very techy
then of course there’s the integrated
entertainment and navigation package
which is identical to the one that was
in the Versa sitting inside the Nissan
Juke it looks very small from the
outside but on the inside that’s quite a
bit of room of course it’s not the size
of the robe or the Murano but you still
have a full back seat you’re supposed to
be able to fit five adults but I’d say
four comfortably and the back isn’t
exactly ginormous but it does have
enough space for you to function as a
family and maybe not with three kids but
with two little kids
I really like driving the Nissan Juke
and I didn’t think that I would but the
turbocharged direct-injection 1.6 liter
engine is actually a lot of fun it
pushes out 188 horsepower and 177
pound-feet of torque and for a car this
size it’s actually quite a bit of power
and I find it quite nimble on its wheels
now this particular model is the
front-wheel drive again just coupled
with the 6-speed manual transmission if
you want the all-wheel-drive system that
means you’re gonna have to go with these
FX tronic automatic it’s just as good
but not as much fun as the manual I
can’t say I’m in love with the look but
I am quite fond of the drive and the
spunky little Juke is sure to catch the
eye of eccentric buyers who want to have
a little fun behind the wheel too
