Test Drive: 2011 MINI Cooper

since it first appeared on our roads in
2001 the Mini has been putting smiles
and driver’s faces across North America
hi I’m Rhonda light stone with
watchmojo.com and today we’re smiling
behind the wheel of a brand new 2011
Mini Cooper S for 2011 BMW chose to
change very little in the Mini Cooper
and that’s just fantastic the Cooper
works the way it is it’s an icon for a
reason since any Mini has been released
the interiors been decidedly very retro
and this look is very polarizing and
either works for you or doesn’t I know
some people who sit in the car and they
feel as if it’s making fun of them
others very much like the modern graphic
design look of the car how do they
appeal the menus that you can customize
it to look any way you want from the
exterior colors to the roof to the
mirrors to the dual colored seats you
can have – these interior – bits here
that can be different colors different
textures different shapes whatever you
want now also with the Mini Cooper you
can customize your speedometer in the
middle here so it can either be just a
speedometer or it can be an
entertainment system I prefer the
entertainment system I think it breaks
up the look of this rather large circle
here unfortunately though with a spoon
already being so large you can never
actually lie about how fast you’re going
to get caught by the cops
[Music]
every time I get behind the wheel of the
coupe arrest I kind of feel like I’m in
the Italian Job and that’s just
fantastic the 1.6 liter turbo engine
pushes out eight more horsepower than it
previously did at 181 and that’s thanks
to an updated variable valve timing
system now a lot of people say the Mini
Cooper drives like a go-kart and there’s
a reason for that the car is very small
it’s very compact you must assume that
from the outside as you can see the back
seats are nearly non-existent that also
helps with a very small feel and it’s
hires are actually pushed to the corners
of the car so that makes handling in the
corners absolutely phenomenal the car
really sticks to the road and that’s
what a mini is really all about when
you’re driving it you want to kind of
push it to its limits you want to see
how fast it can take a corner and the
thing is no matter what you throw at it
it handles it perfectly sometimes a car
just fits with the driver now for me the
mini fits me to a tee
from the size of the car to the look at
the exterior to the sound of the exhaust
note everything about this car is
absolutely perfect many designs their
cars for drivers and if you’re a driver
that you want to get behind the wheel of
a coupe or s as soon as possible
