Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Ballet

this popular ballet is often performed
around Christmastime hi I’m Rebecca
Brayton and welcome to watchmojo.com our
host mihaela common got the chance to
learn more about Tchaikovsky’s
Nutcracker ballet from some of its young
stars can you tell us a little bit about
your role in this ballet a party kid is
like a good role for people who like
like dancing and putting lots of
emotions tell us a little bit about the
Nutcracker
instead of being in that cracker he
transforms into a prince and like see
Clara likes the Nutcracker yes very much
do you think she’s in love with him a
little yeah
I heard the ural in this plays Clara
yeah how hard was it to get this role
I’m just here for like a small part not
to be clear I wasn’t expecting it but so
don’t be a little bit about the
Nutcracker what is the main story Clara
she will her uncle Josh Sumire doctor
she gets a nutcracker
and she’s so in love with it that at
night she comes and she takes in she
goes into this dream so she meets all
these different characters and it’s
really it’s really cool
can you tell us a little bit about your
role in the Nutcracker well I have nine
roles
this year I’m playing the maid in the
party scenes some nights I play a mother
in the party scene or a doll in the
party scene I also am in the snow scene
a demi soloist in the second act I play
Chinese good sir oh say I do the waltz
pata de and I think that’s it is it hard
to remember everything yeah it is but
after you get past maybe your eleventh
or twelfth show it starts to be really
easy why do you think that the
Nutcracker is such a popular ballet in
the holiday season it’s just been around
forever and it really has more of a
Christmas spirit that I think any other
play Ballet Theatre that you’re going to
see this time of year and it really is a
story that takes place that Christmas
for Clara
