hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com and in this clip steve
wozniak provides insight into apples
history and some of its recipes for
success when IBM came out they had sales
forces in all the big businesses and the
the market for home computers really was
wasn’t going to fit the Apple too well
the market for small business computers
was much huger so we kind of lost the
business market we lost software in some
of those areas that the left brain areas
accounting law and engineering a lot of
the software is really directed towards
the PCs that’s where it exists now on
the other hand people will go to work
and take the work computer as a PC and
at home they’ll buy themselves a back
intosh last few years our market share
actually in the last year or two has
doubled the buckler the ipod and the
iphone brought a lot of people into
apple stores and in contact with the
equipment a lot of people talk to their
friends the experience that you get from
apple’s people talk about how important
is how they love it we’ve always had a
very strong strong passionate group of
followers
we could handle such things as
photography with Photoshop and
videography with the programs like adobe
premiere shortly after the avid was out
so we could do video editing and we can
do photography work and graphics much
earlier because we had enough memory to
do it and it’s that simple and
explanation it’s sort of an accident of
history so all the artists and the video
people and the producers and the movie
people all got into Macintoshes and once
you’re into it you love it so much it’s
very difficult to pry you away Apple has
it in the culture company culture why
couldn’t feel it why did you let Packard
turn me down five times for the personal
computer and it’s because their personal
culture wouldn’t have let them do the
fun interesting inspirational machine
that would change the world they would
have forced it to be an engineer’s
machine apples you know smart about
knowing you know what’s what’s a new
good direction ago we were the first
ones to build the USB ports into our
computers we invented firewire we were
really the first to ever have a popular
mass mass produced and sold Wi-Fi steve
jobs in particular even when you know
when i was there he would always be
pushing even me to try to look at this
newer smaller device can we do something
with that one can we push it to what are
the new technologies that are a one step
ahead of the others a lot of these
things are just really trying to do a
little sleeker job even though it has a
cost I can’t tell you
