this Grammy winning heavy-metal band has
topped the Billboard charts and sold
over 20 million albums worldwide hi my
name is Stephanie and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
with Chris otherwise known as number
three from Slipknot so I’d like to start
off with talking about the musical
evolution of Slipknot since your debut
album can you talk to me a bit about
that please obviously your first record
you have a long time to write and the
next record you don’t however
we uh write exactly what we want to you
know as far as an evolution goes we keep
continuing to open doors that we’re not
sure if we should open we should do or
not but then we’re just like at the end
of the day we have total control over
you know the music so nobody can tell us
how to do it or when to do it or what to
do it so I think that’s the way it’s
always gonna continue to progress
Joshua
can you talk to me a bit about some of
your rhythmic influences as a
practitioner
it was pretty not all my whole life you
know
Slayer all of that stuff Metallica all
those drummers are so great you know I
just continue to grow through touring
and watching the other amazing zone
those you know Bill Ward shannon larkin
you know dave mcclain and all these and
joey jordison just trying out loud I
mean I get to play with him every night
you know it’s just you can’t help but
learn and be better when it when it
comes to you constantly you want to
learn how to sew stuff you should hang
out at the sewing Club
this is a question that asked a lot of
fans but I feel like they they don’t
really like to answer but it’s basically
about labeling the music or how you
would describe Slipknot sound yeah it’s
the weirdest question because I just
like music I’m like what for what it is
there’s no ID labeled music when I was
growing up the heavier and the eviler
the cover was the better the record was
it didn’t matter you know because I was
into it so much that I don’t even care
about that I really done what is your
opinion on the current state of metal
music I’m just so happy it never dies
I mean that’s the coolest thing things
come and go so much and you know from
Exodus us there’s it’s always there man
guys are still touring and you know and
doing what they love cuz it’s just the
best times of my life have been with
metal you know and the worst times when
I started learning about it but it’s
scary you know about amen
for me about what you’ve learnt over the
years as a musician what I’ve learned is
the musician is um that I’m very
grateful for everything that received
and given through music it’s the only
thing in my life that I truly believe
has my back and that’s music
what do you love most about making music
and what keeps you going throughout all
this time music I mean I couldn’t think
of anything else that really caused a
lot of it’s fairly boring you know he
show up the bus parks here I’m at the
gig I haven’t left this room all day hot
out so you’re kind of pinned in but
knowing that I get to go do that hour
and power and happing is priceless
