Selah Sue Discusses Her Advice from Prince

this Belgian songstress use her
background in psychology to write
introspective yet still catchy tune I
was never really into you say hi I’m
Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
with Sela soo about her past present and
future music as well as the advice she
once received from Prince today
oh yeah so what were you going for with
your debut album it was never my
intention to become professional you
know I really studied psychology become
psychologist you know it was a bit my
way to express myself and I was when I
was depressed I don’t believe like that
if you really depressed not only music
and get you out no I don’t believe in
that but it’s it’s a way you know too
that I I did something with a bad
feeling in that but that was a good
feeling you know that I could put it in
a songs no but it’s not
do feel sad all the time is there one
single in particular that you’re most
excited about unveiling to North
American audiences there are all my
babies you know but they’re all written
in a certain era of my life you know
certain period of my life and I wouldn’t
write them again it’s already three
years ago you know I really still love
them but I would do something else now I
cannot wait to show my second album
they’re all pretty special but I think
for me my most importance on his break
on the album no huh well I’ll break we
know they’re all skin holder stand and
that’s our bunny out of fame and why is
that because it describes the best how I
felt and our I think lyric wise it’s
it’s really good and like melody wise
it’s it’s a song i’m most proud of we’re
not gonna deal with this at all it’s
getting darker break my wall have you
started compiling music for your second
album sometimes if i’m really bored or
sometimes if i have a really strong
emotion or something that then it some
things come out but i have a lot of
ideas you know I have a lot of ideas but
I need my space and time and now I have
to travel all the way around the world
two years now so um yeah I think I’m
gonna need my time
Oh
I show ya
of all the acts that you’ve worked with
or open for is there one that has been
the most memorable experience yeah i
think when i did the sport of Prince
gave me some incredible advice I said to
me it’s important to learn about the
business because they’re all sharks and
then I and also it’s important to do
everything yourself but I’m like yo
Prince I’m really much more lazy to you
you know I don’t want to do it myself
but and also that I he said I can see
you breathe music so never take any
lessons which is good because it’s feeds
me in my laziness so it was all good it
was perfect yeah it’s cool well that’s
very cool thank you very much thank you
very much
