Ryan Decenzo: Interview with the Pro Skateboarder

this fun-loving Canadian skateboarder
will try anything once or so he said hi
I’m mahila common and welcome to
watchmojo.com today will be speaking
with Ryan de Santa
tell me how did you get into
skateboarding I don’t know I was just a
kid and just looked like fun so I just
grabbed a bored one day and enjoyed it
how do you keep the passion for it going
it’s just one of those things that like
there’s so much you can do on it it’s
like not like a soccer where you’re just
trying to put the ball in the goal but
you can be so creative with it so it
never gets boring
and what trick are you trying to achieve
like what still needs some work well
every trick needs work it’s all about
consistency I mean it’s like golf you
know it’s hard to hit that little sweet
spot and stuff so you know I’m working
on all of them
and what are some of the major
challenges that you have to overcome in
this sport it’s just a hard industry
sometimes and you know it’s not as big
as like a lot of other industries it’s
hard to get in and get your own little
niche I would say that’s one of the hard
things to overcome and just try to be an
individual and there’s a lot of people
that can like hate on something like
your style or whatever your tricks or
but you know you just gotta do what you
do and you do what you think is cool how
do you cope with injuries in the sport I
just try to like pay attention to them
and it’s something that you can’t ignore
because well it hurts when you’re
skating and be it hurts like it’s gonna
hurt later on if you don’t take care of
it and he’ll it properly so that’s what
i do i just take as much care as I can
how long do you see yourself
skateboarding for um I don’t know I can
see myself skateboarding until I mean
I’m 25 now so at least another 10 more
years probably 15 until I’m 40 and then
I don’t know maybe hopefully be able to
skate some holes and stuff like that
when I’m older like Barry Walsh I don’t
know how old that guy is but yeah I
don’t know hopefully 4550 whatever
and are there other sports that you take
part in are there other things you do to
train or in keep in shape um yeah I just
I try to stay in the best shape I can
because skateboarding’s like not pretty
physically demanding when you’re in a
certain caught kind of kind of contest
format or whatever but uh I mean I just
ice skate every day so that’s what I do
