it’s a case of bart vs The Bard hi I’m
Rebecca Britain and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
with Rick Miller about his one-man show
macomber so far viewers who don’t know
about mccomber can you explain the show
of it yeah it’s a the simpsons do
Macbeth it’s me on stage one person
doing uh plate 50 simpsons characters
reenacting Shakespeare’s bloodiest
tragedy and I do it in a very edited
condensed way kind of looks and feels a
bit like a simpsons halloween episode
too short play it’s very straightforward
the plots pretty clear and the homer
makes a very stupid appealing macbeth
because he’s just you know he’s cowardly
and ambitious and marge wears the pants
in the family she’s perfectly to macbeth
mr. burns is great Krusty the Clown is
the drunken porter this is a play that
you can bring your teenager to who hates
Shakespeare and they’ll actually give it
a chance was that ever a goal of yours
to try to bring shakespeare to a
different audience it’s a play that is
perfect for high schools it because a
lot of kids you have some who hate
Shakespeare they’re all raised their
hand you ask them why because it’s
boring and this play actually somehow
opens a door for certain people and
that’s part of why I keep doing it is
because it does a good thing I think is
Homer Simpson a typical Shakespearean
lead I think homers a very funny Macbeth
but he’s a Shakespearean in there yet
he’s tragic I mean the whole but all of
Simpsons the whole cast is pretty tragic
what are you
I’ll hear a coma k to detain of lumps
all hail Macomber hail to thee Thane of
Cawdor all hail mccomber that shalt be
king her after make it stop make it stop
Shakespeare fans as Simpsons fans are
pretty rabid to source materials that
people love and they hold with high
esteem and have somehow collided them
together and the car crash is appealing
