I welcome to this week’s fun facts with
Leslie we’re going to be talking about
jarhead which is a great movie it’s the
newest movie from director Sam Mendes
whose two previous ventures were road to
perdition and American Beauty this movie
is similar to those two movies in the
sense that there’s a very strong
protagonist who isn’t necessarily
unflawed it’s also very reminiscent of
sam mendes earlier films in the sense
that he often begins and
with a voiceover narration from this
lead character and it helps to really
create a circular motion that brings in
the beginning and the end of the movie
Sam man jeez as a side note for her you
interested years is also married to
actress kate winslet who does not appear
in this film back to the movie the movie
is an account of the desert storm war
and it was based on a novel and it
recounts the story of man named Swofford
who’s played by jake gyllenhaal goes
into the desert and it’s the story of
what the men out there really
experienced and it is really well done
there’s a lot of humor Jake is wonderful
there are also wonderful performances by
Peter skarsgard who is dating Jake
Gyllenhaal sister Maggie and the only
thing I found sort of odd was that Chris
Cooper appears on the cover and I don’t
know but she you can check it out I
think he may have appeared in the movie
for 30 to 40 seconds and then there’s
Jamie Foxx it was completely wonderful
the only thing that I could potentially
speculate about putting Chris Cooper on
the cover is it he’s a big name actor
and at the time they were filming this
movie Jamie Foxx hadn’t yet received the
wonderful critical acclaim he has for
Ray and potentially Sam Mendes just said
I need another big name to bring out
this movie but it’s really unnecessary
it carries itself on its own it’s a
wonderful piece and and even for the
female viewing audience out there I
think you will be really
really pleasantly surprised so I’m going
to recommend jarhead and and say go see
it and check back next week all right
