wrapping your shins can help relieve any
pain associated with shin splints hi I’m
Veronica with watchmojo.com and today
the expert team are showing us two
different ways to wrap our shins so that
we can continue training when is it
necessary to tape your shins you’re
gonna want to take the shins when you’re
suffering from shin splints and so
someone may be really requiring or
really wanting to go to their activity
or to their sport and a tape job can
support them it may also be for just
your regular daily activities such as
walking or just being around the house
sometimes if the shin splints are very
severe you may need or may like to have
the support that a tape job can bring it
to you it should be used though in
conjunction with other therapies and
other methods and tactics to try to help
heal that injury in the first place but
at a pub can be supportive and helpful
and part of a plan how can it help
there’s a few styles of tape jobs one
style will support the arch of the foot
one style shoes please he’s aggravated
when the arch of the foot flattens
without adequate control from the muscle
system another style of tape job will
provide actual compression to the
insertion of the muscles so that’s a
higher up or at the origin of the shin
muscles what are the two methods that
we’re gonna take a look at today we’re
gonna look at an arch under arch tile
tape job and it’s and the second style
is gonna be for shin support and
creating a pseudo false insertion this
is maybe the X arch technique it’s meant
to support the arch it’s a job that can
be used to help alleviate shin splints
it’s also a job that can be used to help
alleviate plantar fasciitis alright so
here we go wanna start off with this
with this technique using the bottom and
bottom cross or one of the classes in
the of the X perform now the other part
of the X coming down on this other side
next I perform some lateral strips which
are the strips that literally are
supporting the arch from here going from
the lateral side pinkie toe side and
dragging some strips straight across
towards the other piece of tape that I
already laid out on this side and next
will be some on an angle diagonal strips
to provide a secondary sort of line of
support why several of those and give it
a nice angle there now get a repeat of
the first strips that I did
one of the exes and then have to close
it up with another strip with the ex
style and coming across and to help keep
things on in the front part I’ll perform
a closing strip up top like that it can
also be used to be undone and make a
little bit tighter there you go with a
few strips well placed we have a
supportive tape job for the arch
director the X arch which is going to
help to support your arch and can
alleviate shin splints and now I’ll show
you another technique to try to support
tibialis posterior which could also help
to alleviate shin splints so Veronica’s
gonna leave her foot relaxed hanging
down and I’ll tape from the medial
malleolus here which is a bony bit on
the inside I’m gonna wrap the tape
around and up the shin here to try to
give support to that tibialis posterior
and do three strips like that
I’ll try a third strip
just as simple as that
see if that helps with Veronica shin
splints when she’s running exercising
