these guys are known for their intense
lyrics complex riffs and hardcore
drumming hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and
welcome to watchmojo.com and today we’re
speaking with Paulo from Trivium about a
few of his influences we might not
expect and what he learns from listening
to other genres
we all know that the band obviously
listens to a lot of heavy metal music
but what kind of music do you listen to
that we might not necessarily expect you
to listen to I listen to anything but
country music I just I hate country
music with a passion and I always put
that out there I just don’t get it
but it’s like it’s like one of the only
genres that still sells like millions of
albums so someone out there in the
heartland gets it I like electronic
stuff certain things here and there I’m
not like way way into it but there are a
lot of artists that I do like some
hip-hop just kind of depends the game
pops kind of it’s a little watered down
sometimes a little too poppy sometimes I
don’t relate to it like the rims and
whole thing that not really my thing but
you know Lil Wayne I think is
entertaining these lyrics are just
absurd what do these other genres kind
of teach you about you know making music
when I listen to like any music I kind
of listen to it more from life I guess
the musicians standpoint like
progressions they’re using the
songwriting some pop music especially
nowadays it’s a lot of program stuff but
there is a songwriter in there somewhere
that’s putting it all together and
arranging it and it I think you could
still take stuff away from that you know
maybe it doesn’t relate to me lyrically
on a lyrical level like you know getting
on the dance floor out of really care
about that but I mean there’s music and
there’s still a lot of talented people
in all those genres you got to respect
that
like I wouldn’t want someone to shut us
off because we’re a metal band they’re
like well metal is all about Satan and
killing people when it’s really not
there’s a lot of really like awesome
bands that are just so different out
there and I would hope someone would
give us a chance so I always give any
kind of music a chance unless you’re
like 20p and
thank you very much thank you
