everybody’s talking about the Occupy
movement let’s hear it from the people
in those cells this is the real deal
possible
what is Occupy movement about it’s a lot
of different things to a lot of
different people we’re all really here
for our own reasons and for me to talk
generally for everyone isn’t fair
because what we’re trying to do is
create democracy we want everyone to
have a voice and so my my personal
vision for the future is to create a
sustainable society in which we can feed
everyone in the world and give and let
everyone have equal rights where money
and power do not correlate where they’re
entirely separate let’s tickets a little
shot around around here just take a shot
most people are here supporting the
movement are they students are they
employed at a unemployed that korie’s
people there’s a lot of people who are
employed there a lot of people who are
students they’re there everyone I mean
the 99 is everyone we do have the
disenfranchised and we do have the
people who were who are outcasts of
society but we also I mean I’m I’m not
an outcast of society Society likes me
and and but I I feel the pain of
everyone else and I can’t help but
empathize and so I come down here and I
live here and I’m doing everything I can
because I want to create a better world
let’s talk about the infrastructure or
maybe once give us a tour around what’s
here I’ve seen there’s a communication
center
I’ve seen a kitchen over here
I seen a medical center you want to show
us a little room yeah this is our main
island that you’re on right now over
there is the West Island in pirate
island down that way we have our
schedules and our posted board over here
what’s on this what kind of people see
on this poster board anything that
someone wants to post I mean as I as I
keep saying it’s a democracy if you have
a question you want to know something
and you think other people can help you
or you need people to
something you can post it up right here
it’s a library here yeah we have a
library it’s our info desk we’re getting
lots of donations of books and
information some people question they
ask individuals like what is the Occupy
movement about and I keep saying it’s
not it’s not one person it’s everyone’s
opinion and and it’s it’s a democracy so
there’s a lot of information here that I
might personally disagree with but it’s
important that it’s here because it’s
we’re not judging we’re not we’re not
saying you can’t post that here where
the information is available to anyone
to determine if they believe it or not
what’s over here these are our donations
you’re asking how we’re going to keep
warm during the winter and it’s
donations so people can donate gloves
and hats and scarves and and warm
clothes and and when people come and get
cold they can come here and and take
something extra this is the coffee the
coffee hot water area where people can
can get a hot tea or whatnot and and
then we have the kitchen over here we
used to just have it a tarp area but now
it’s a tempo and it’s still still
growing it’s still being fixed up this
is our dishwashing area yeah it’s really
important that everyone take charge and
do their through their due diligence if
everyone did their dishes it would make
things so much easier how long do you
guys plan to stay here we are not
leaving we’re gonna stay here until we
enact change the world doesn’t have have
another 25 years to just putz around and
try and figure out where we’re gonna
where we’re gonna go what we’re gonna do
and how we’re gonna do it if we don’t
change things right here and now there
isn’t a tomorrow we’re doing this
because we want a tomorrow what do you
fill zhan utter Occupy movements that
have been broken up by the the city and
the police well they’re just trying to
defend the status quo the status quo
does not work for everyone we could be
doing all right everywhere we could have
peace everywhere we just start setting
our goal sign up and frankly the Occupy
movements are we are setting the the
sky’s the limit we have the technology
we have the communication we have the
agriculture we have everything necessary
to create a better world and no one’s
trying hard enough everyone’s just
trying for more money and money does
nothing we need to change that to a
resource-based economy
