today I’ve come to the famous mount
Stephens club in Montreal Quebec the
mount Stephens club was originally the
mansion of the founder of CP Rail well
since then it became a private club and
like all private clubs it went through a
kind of dead time well it’s now
experienced a renaissance essentially a
private group has bought in it out has
renovated it restored it to its former
glory and we’re going to go take a look
at what they’ve accomplished I was
wondering if you gentlemen can tell me
how has the mountain Stevens Club
figured into both high society and civil
society here in Montreal well first of
all the first time I have been here it
was october sometime of zerg allah and i
like it very very much we like it and we
felt if we have such a beautiful club
which like a jewel and tried to polish
it and have it serving the people of
Montreal and continue with the tradition
for the Montella for the visitors and we
believe this is the nicest Victorian
house in North America and this one of
reasons is real and real estate and well
and hospitality we felt if we take this
house improve it and make it nice for
everybody here in Quebec and rest of
Canada okay so if a member of the
community I’m interested in applying for
membership how does someone go about
that is there it’s very simple we have a
board and the board basically we look at
the background because it’s backgrounds
very important it’s a very prestigious
home it’s a jewel and we would love to
actually love to have the members but
widows goes to the board because you
know we like to us your background and
if basically the bowler of the board
agrees were five board members and we
basically let them in it’s our pleasure
to have him here in the past I’ve heard
the club limited membership to just man
is that’s still going to be the case no
of course not
year two thousand gentlemen so matter of
fact i would say i would like to say
first women in the man i say both
naturally they’re very welcome all of
them anyone family any person any couple
very welcome to rig up there’s no
limitation to anyone it really is our
pleasure to have men women i mean it’s
it’s a club that the mystery of all mr.
Soper purchased is for basically the
community and it would be our pleasure
to have men women well is there anything
else you’d like to add about the club
and as it stands and yes what I would
like to add here the club that this club
used to host a member of the royal
family and member of distinguish
different level of government they have
been here and also they will he’ll make
them a few more many movies here and
many celebrity from Hollywood and local
people they had been here when I would
like to say now it was joy for us to
know this kind of category of people
have been here now we would like the
rest of the people to feel the same way
each one of us to be start here and to
feel that they are all of them sorry
