today we’re speaking with marina and the
diamonds about Electra Heart tell us
about some of the themes behind Electra
Heart I kind of created a fictional
character to talk about love kind of
quite objectively in a way in quite a
blunt precise way it’s work as it plays
with the idea of fakery but really it’s
quite an open album it helped me to be
more open about things and if I it’s
just you know done it as marina
now if I’m not mistaken you worked with
quite a few producers like Diplo and dr.
Luo okay what did you learn from working
with these guys I’m like confidence I
think on the first album I wrote mainly
alone obviously it’s like nerve-wracking
to open your ideas up to other people so
I think that was the main way in which
it really helped me
what is your normal songwriting Perez’s
like pretty much the same as this time
except for with like a song like Liza
Stein role I started on my own for some
reason I just couldn’t move on to the
chorus so with Luke I took that
intercession and and he really helped
move the song along so at home I do the
same thing the lyrics always come first
my I might not do anything for three
months and I’ll just write it down and
then I’ll come back to it and sit down
at piano
do you have a preference between like
smaller more intimate venues versus like
giant and festival type I think the
ideal would to have my own giant show so
basically playing arenas
but I do really like small gigs I think
there’s definitely something to be said
for being able to you know do us a gig
just for the guitar and piano but then
festivals our gigs do you have the
energy but then there might be you know
some of the people in the crowd might
not be a fan so stiffer on
you’re obviously here supporting
Coldplay yep that’s awesome
major how did that come about I don’t
know how it came about but I think one
of the bands respond of my music think
it was fell they just rang my Adrian why
does that really do you want to sport
