contra series contra had new controlling
two mercenaries basically taking on an
alien race in a sort of Terminator I
thought sort of influencing the world
now contra was known for being
incredibly hard almost unfairly so but
if the player actually managed to get
through that game they were rewarded
with one of the best and just visceral
action experiences available up until
that point now the original contra for
the NES was loved by many people and you
might remember was one of the first
games to actually have a cheat code to
get involved now personally I found the
game impossible to play through without
this cheat code I’m actually gonna take
a shot here to see if I can get it to
work again now if you remember right it
was here was up up down down left right
left right ba ba snoops I can do fast
enough up up down down left right left
right ba ba start let’s see if I got
that there you go 30 lives pulled it off
now this allowed the game to actually be
playable because otherwise I couldn’t
make it past the first few levels a
16-bit contra game that I think most of
you remember is the same one that I
remember really well was actually the
first game i ever skipped school for and
that was the incredible contra 3 the
alien wars now cultures knew the alien
wars really just took contr to the next
level again you know you have the
updated 16-bit graphics but I must say
you know I have a lot of positive things
to say about a lot of games but when it
comes to this game
it was just incredible now this first
level had you sort of going around and
then taken out bad guys and usual contra
fashion but you know that this game
incorporated you know overhead scrolling
levels had you know scaling buildings
and driving tanks and and just really
really really up the ante in terms of
gameplay and I really sort of got that
Terminator 2 feeling when i played this
not only because of the music and just
the sort of feeling of the game but just
think over-the-top action I mean this
game really really never lets up and
this is one of those things we weren’t
too used to seeing back then I mean
games were intended to be sort of slower
paced but but this game just I mean from
the moment it starts to the moment it
end it never never never lets up and I
think a lot of people really loved and
appreciated that about this game now I
don’t know what you do in order to get
your hands on on older games but if you
manage to find some way to play contra
through the alien wars believe me you
will not be disappointed this game holds
up with even the Game Boy Advance sort
of female generation of games now and I
think will be appreciated and remembered
by many people for years and years and
years
