Intro to Budokon From Celebrity Fitness Trainer Cameron Shayne

Budokan meeting the way of the spiritual
warrior combines yoga mixed martial arts
and meditation hi I’m Veronica with
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
with the founder of this practice Kamryn
Shan so what is Budokan Budokan is a
blend of yoga martial arts and living
arts and by living arts I mean it is a
total exploration of how you think how
you feel how you relate how you eat how
you exist in the environment that
sustains you and how you move now this
is something that you develop to help
with some of your struggles can you tell
us about that process growing up as a
young man and having a particular
temperament as we all have a specific
temperament you know fight or flight I
have a very fight temperament so I know
I can control how I respond to what
happens to me and and so I started that
journey and that journey first led me
into martial arts when I was 12 because
I recognized even at a very young age
that I wanted to control I had a great
desire to control that that fire in me
and then I found yoga in my early 20s
and kept practicing both and then I
started studying philosophy psychology
and and this just you know all of these
concepts merge together to create what
little Connie is now I was just purely
fascinated and interested in the control
of mind and body and in the emotional
process now you don’t use any weights or
any gizmos when practicing so will you
really see that full body transformation
a person in their most natural state or
their in their most natural environment
is is simply pulling pushing
climbing swimming moving jumping leaping
turning that’s what a person does
without gizmos you can call a tree a
gizmo if you want because theoretically
a pull-up bar is just a limb so yeah if
you put a person into their natural
state which would look something like a
jungle gym then they can achieve
absolute control and power now you see
that some
the biggest problems that people have
today is that they don’t understand how
their body moves what do you mean by
that the first thing you have to do is
get your butt out of the chair and get
onto the floor and reconnect to what you
used to have which was a very elastic
body because you were a child but it was
elastic because it was fresh and it was
being used in its full range all the
time you were sitting on the ground you
were crawling or moving you were coming
up here coming down that’s where you
stayed and when the body starts to lose
that elasticity it’s because you stopped
using it now what can you practice
people might get intimidated by these
moves do you have anything to help them
out when they start their first class I
think a person would begin Budokan by
simply coming to the practice in looking
at the fundamentals of the work first
you learn the big picture you learn the
general choreography then you start
learning and layering all the detail to
it and that’s how you learn anything
after practicing Budokan what changes
will you notice your body will find its
natural expression you know it will be
the weight it’s supposed to be your
muscles will be as strong and lean as
they’re supposed to be because you’re
working you’re moving with them in a
very natural way oh thank you very much
it was so great having you thank you it
was my pleasure to be here thank you for
having me
