Interview with Zombie Guru George A. Romero

I’ll go to a knight he got his start on
mr. Rogers neighborhood and has helped
to create a cannon of zombie films which
have popularized this creature in the
mainstream for three decades hi I’m
Craig Connelly with watchmojo.com and
today we’ll be sitting down with zombie
guru and horror director George a Romero
to discuss his career I read an
interesting fact regarding how you
became interested in the horror genre
involving mr. Rogers yeah my first job
was working for a Fred Rogers mr. Rogers
neighborhood everyone that comes from
Pittsburgh that is still working
professional in media and film TV
started with Fred Rogers when I was
there Michael Keaton was a grip
brilliant guy but in some ways naive
people must not bite other people why do
you think there’s a built-in fan base
for zombie films I don’t even know that
it comes from the films I think it’s
video games that have made the zombie so
popular it became a you know a perfect
character a perfect kind of a creature
for a first-person shooter game what do
you think of the adaptation frenzy
that’s going on like the Texas Chainsaw
Massacre Halloween what do you think of
this phenomenon I don’t know I think
it’s a bit nuts it’s all about the money
guys man it’s all about the producers
and you know it happens on Broadway I
mean you know how many new plays are
open on Broadway their own revival freak
show was remade Day of the Dead was
remade twice and the crazies now how do
you feel about the remakes
I haven’t seen any of them except for
the Zac’s Dawn of the Dead and I think
Zacks a pretty good filmmaker and I
loved the first 20 minutes of that film
but then I don’t know it became a video
game or something and I don’t think
zombies should run you’ve been quoted as
saying our worst enemies our neighbors
next door what what’s next door to us
right now I think what’s happening is
that people are getting so completely
frustrated and angry over the way things
are being run so I think that’s the wolf
at the door right now it’s it’s not just
you know the frustrated post office
worker anymore it’s like they
scale
