vocal arrangements are just one of their
signature talents winter sleep joins us
on watchmojo.com i’m your host layla and
i spoke to the guys about welcome to the
night sky
can you give you please introduce
yourself and tell us your role in this
band I’m Mike Bigelow I play bass I’m
Paula Murphy I sing and play guitar Tim
Dion I play get to well Campbell plays
drums
can you let us in on the meaning behind
welcome to the night sky it just sounded
like a good title I guess I probably had
the pedal for about a year and a half
before we actually recorded the rec room
seemed fitting for that group of songs
can you tell us a bit about the
production of welcome to the night sky
it was recorded by a guy named Tony
Newton from Scotland and like Scottish
people so we found a producer that was
Scottish pretty much tried to do like a
song a day like started in the morning
kind of rearranging the studio
specifically for that song and like how
we wanted that song to come across
sonically I suppose it was nice was the
first time we get to go into the studio
for kind of long amount of time in a row
they were at two records that we made
before that were just really drawn out
like just kind of saving up as much
though as we possibly could to you know
go into the studio whenever to work on
whatever beds that we have done like a
year prior to so it was it’s it was kind
of felt like a first proper record as
musicians what do you like better life
on the road or a license to do it’d be
nice if you could have a kind of more
equal balance or maybe it’d be nice if
we give I think maybe that’s something
that we’re striving for is a you know to
kind of be in the studio just as much as
you’re on tour
we’re always working on new stuff and
it’s just like you know you kind of have
to sit on it for a couple years before
you actually like throw it down
appropriately or whatever I didn’t play
on the Welcome tonight so I’ve Scott
record so that I’ve never had that
experience of recording in that way but
I like looking forward to it for the
next one but i like i like touring like
i’m when i’m home i’m usually pretty
bored I just like like it’s a play
guitar in my room and listen to records
and just kind of wait around since its
creation the band has undergone a few
reconfigurations what is the common
inspiration by an event
um Tim me yeah I’m the common it’s
pretty
it’s been a pleasure to meet you guys
thank you very much
me
