I always dreamed about this job you know
I always wanted to be a DJ since I was a
kid and then when you make it you know
it’s the best feeling ever this Dutch
superstar is one of the leading names in
electronic dance music he sold that
stadiums worldwide and he’s played in
front of billions at the 2004 Olympic
opening ceremonies hi I’m your host
Stephanie and welcome to watchmojo.com
and today we’re speaking to tiësto you
recently parted ways with black hole
recordings I know that you’re created a
new label it’s called musical freedom so
as learning why did you decide to create
that and how is it different from what
you’ve done with black hole recording
yeah but luckily callings I mean I had
an amazing run for more than ten years I
thought it was time to change as a
producer has changed a lot money bubble
glidescope you can hear a lot of changes
in my sound and also as a DJ I changed a
lot so I felt like I needed a new home
to put my creativity out that’s why the
label is called musical freedom because
I felt like the old label and and
everything I was more in a certain
corner basically trounce and now I feel
like I’m more open-minded for everything
you know I can make tracks with 360
mafia with this rascal with block party
with Seguros I’m all over the place and
I think that’s a good thing
there’s so many different people that
you worked with who’s left that you
would like to collaborate with basically
I just made a wish list of like 30
people and almost everyone wants to work
with me it doesn’t matter if somebody’s
famous or not or well-known it’s more
like if you can add something to the
song or give me inspiration that’s more
important
I mean you’ve incorporated you know rock
trance throughout your career what stage
are you at right now there’s no
boundaries anymore you know I can play
everything from a really hard trance
records to an eclectic Boys Noize record
expect the unexpected this is nice for
the show and I think people appreciate
the tool that you know I step out of my
safety box you know it’s always safe to
play Thrones and everybody go crazy but
it’s now it’s more challenging to make
people crazy with different music I
would say my style you could name it
eclectic
now you’ve played for so many different
cities all around the world for so many
years I was wondering what do you think
gives your music such an international
appeal it’s just very pure you know it’s
not an act what I do is just straight
from the heart what I play and I’m I’m
always myself onstage and also the
musical produce I don’t produce music to
make hits or to be cool I just make it
because I like it and I play it because
I like
it’s the best feeling in the world while
I’m on stage when I’m DJing I just in
the zone
I don’t feel Who I am anymore I just am
living the moment
