together for more than 20 years now and
a lot of the bands that sort of were
popular in the 90s either they don’t
exist
or they weren’t consistently making
music like you guys have and what keeps
you guys going and keeps things
interesting you know it’s the love of
the music first and foremost in our fans
they really keep feeding my desire to do
it I have to be honest and say that
there are some songs that I nights you
know but because they love it so much
they give me a feeling of freshness
about even the old material their energy
is what really is responsible for them
is it hard for you guys to keep the
creativity flowing or keeping things
fresh that’s one of the greatest
challenges I’ve actually started to do
my own solo work I’m gonna do a solo
record soon I’m writing for it now and
I’m going out and doing acoustic shows
by myself just getting really really
intimate
that’s been really incredible for me
because it’s been a long time since I’ve
been or ever really not been that close
to them that’s one way that I’m doing it
to sort of just keep myself fresh are
their tensions like that ever come up
with the band I mean is it difficult for
the others to sort of accept it are they
afraid of like something like a breakup
happening it’s music and it and it can
be done in so many different ways I
think you get used to a certain way but
you know no lives not breaking up you
know it’s just a matter of being free
within it to to make sure that your
creativity stays really you know strong
and and you stay happy doing what you’re
doing and I think it’s really important
to shake it up that’s our take on
I heard about this song that’s called to
hold me up and Kevin Smith asks you guys
three times if we’re in three different
movies to be able to put that song in
one of their films it finally ended up
in a second Mary makes a porno is there
any plans for this song to be released
eventually
didn’t go on the soundtrack and it’s
right now it’s just in the movie and on
a bunch of YouTube clips and I kind of
like that I don’t know if the fans
really like that but I dig it because it
keeps it you know for me it keeps it
sort of distant and and interesting and
we’ll mystique around it it’s pretty
cool but it is out there good that’s it
it’s over I know that lives
ethos is very spiritual what draws you
to these ideas to write about any reason
I’ve just always been interested in what
the truth is what life is for you know
we just sort of spinning around on a
piece of dust and then an infinite
universe with no purpose or is there
something else
that’s what drives me as a person in my
personal life I just happen to be a
musician too you know so I used those
influences to make the lyric and
you know I’ve been very blessed to find
a lot of people who get something from
that how his father had changed you both
the either’s person or even the lyrics
that you write Oh incredibly it’s
changed the new songs has changed you
know even my perception of like
lightning crashes and older songs
because now I have kids and I wrote that
song with brackets it’s just an
incredible experience that has brought
an incredible search humanity into my
life that was was there before but not
in this kind of death
you know I was right there for both my
kids birth that doesn’t get any more
real than that and grounding and and and
awe-inspiring so yeah it’s definitely
had a huge impact
