Interview With Snow Patrol

this Scottish Irish foursome combined a
penchant for songwriting with catchy pop
rock riffs
hi my name is Stephanie and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
to Snow Patrol
what would you say Snow Patrol is known
for musically your lyrics is it the song
structures the consistent thing would be
Gary’s voice it’s instantly recognizable
but I think all those things lyrics are
a huge part of what we are you know guys
narcs I think a lot of time people can
be a little misguided about what we are
we always have been and will be a rock
bands but you’ve also described snow
patrol as being a pop group or at least
having pop elements in your music why do
you think the word pop has become sort
of a dirty word these days but on the
pop thing I don’t know once we come
Terry where the guest image may be
because there’s there’s some very very
good pop and some very bad thought there
are a lot of people who sort of have a
chasing cars moment such as an important
romantic memory that they associate with
the song so I was wondering if you had a
chasing cars memory perhaps that you’d
like to share I remember writing the
song we’ve had some very sort of
heartwarming stories or it’s not you
know people getting through tough times
it’s all you can really hope for a song
is that people connect with as much as
they did that song did you guys feel
pressure to make the follow-up record
which was a hundred million suns
a hundred million songs was a kind of
direct reaction to the huge success
against of that record and that song you
know we didn’t want to repeat ourselves
and we wanted to at least start trying
to explore different avenues and
different ways of presenting our songs
so I know that you guys have a new
compilation coming out it’s called up to
now what is it like to go back through
your whole career like that you have
some new material as well so putting the
new material with the old material
weirdly we didn’t between the fibers
find it too difficult to select the
tracks or the different versions of what
we want to put on it I guess the whole
idea behind it is it’s been 15 years who
kind of want to mark that occasion but
also kind of you know Joe Linus on and
say you know this is what we’ve done
it’s not turning at the end
when you guys open for bands as big as
u2 and Coldplay do you guys find the
crowd receptive or can they be difficult
sometimes the weird thing is generally
yes sometimes they can be in the past we
find out but this year supporting cool
play on YouTube we find the prize
incredibly receptive and not sure what
it’s all diete I think we’ve movie just
got better and you know we’re better
present them what we day and more
confident with it
dream of a secure bottom himself has
declared his admiration for snow patrol
and interviews what is the experience
like opening for a band that you know
that mr is you so much it’s an amazing
amazing experience you know we’ve
learned so much from them just by
watching them you know it’s without a
doubt the finest show I’ve ever seen on
the glass
because have been together for 15 years
so zoning what have you learned from
this I guess how much we care and love
each other and how important that is to
everything we do you know but whether
it’s writing songs together turn
together or making decisions together
and you know it should be fun than it is
thank you so much thank you
