Interview with Simple Plan – Part 1

hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com in our latest music
interview our host stephanie gets to
chat with jeff of the popular french
canadian formation simple plan
your wizard
I think Pierre and Chuck are the main
songwriters right so I guess how would
you guys say each of the other m members
besides their own instrument what do you
guys bring to the band both musically
lyrically everything else I think it’s
pretty obvious that I bring the good
looks to this band it’s to me that’s
really my main contribution no I think
I’m the guitar in the band so I
definitely you know bring that you know
element to to the full it’s a chemistry
that works with the five of us you know
we have to take care of you know
business is just decisions in all 97 as
you know the five of us doing it
together and and we’re just you know
high school friends you got to remember
that you know and there’s a weird
chemistry weird way of doing things but
it’s really a five-way ban unless the
way it goes and you guys are all in
previous bands before simple plan so i
was just wondering like how did those
previous experiences affect you guys now
and what do you do differently I
actually played in a lot of bands you
know and it kind of makes you a better
musician you have to blow for other
people and also makes you know what you
want and what you don’t want from the
bank and the past bands I was never
satisfied because the chemistry a lot of
those bands were made out of great
musicians but unnecessarily friends you
know and in this band it’s the opposite
were terrible musicians but we’re great
friends it’s cool to have people that
you you know you get along with when
you’re on the road you’re on a tour bus
all the time you have to you know you
have to really get along with the person
that kind of sleeps next to you not
literally we still have a meter you know
in between us but that’s very important
that’s what I learned did you guys
expect to be this big and it’s Fame what
you imagined it would be no when you
start a band you’re like kind of
throwing these dreams out David used to
live right by the Bell Centre Montreal
and I’d go there you know for dinner
with them and we play music and then you
know there’d be a hockey game and we’d
be like dude you have to play that place
and we’d be like someday we’ll do it and
you know you want to say it too loud and
you don’t want to jinx it but it did
happen eventually and that’s you know
that’s an achievement as far as fame
goes it’s kind of weird to to know that
you know people Google you once in a
while and it’s kind of easy for people
to find out you know anything about you
really I guess my life is more in the
open that it’s ever been I guess it
comes with the territory you know you
want to fill out arenas you want to play
big shows you kind of have to be
known you know it comes with it
what are you guys most proud of at this
point in time and what do you hope to
achieve in the future I’m most proud of
just you know haven’t been together for
like eight or nine years that’s already
an achievement in itself I’m proud of
the third record a lie I’m really proud
of that record I think we’ve grown we’ve
achieved you know that the kind of
mission that we’ve accepted for
ourselves which was you know let’s
change let’s make this bang you know a
newer sounding ban and that’s exactly
what we did so I’m proud of that
