this progressive post-hardcore quartet
has the ability to both bare their souls
and scream their guts out

hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com we got the chance to check
out Warped Tour and speak with pierce
avail
let’s start by having you each introduce
yourself tell us what you do in the band
and give us a fun fact about yourself
that we might not know my name is Vic
and I sing and I that’s it yes get me
[Music]
my name is Tony I play guitar and I like
turtles and Star Wars
my name is Jaime and I play bass and I
have dumb hair that you do my name is
Mike I play drums for Pierce avail and I
have a pet hamster named Michael Jackson
[Music]
so we like to start with the origin
stories of the bands that we entry so
why don’t you take it away and tell me
how pierce the veil originated well the
band started with with me and Mike we’re
brothers kind of started pierce the veil
and then needed to you know find a good
man and good people and we found these
beautiful men right here
Tony and Hyman they were actually
another and another band together so we
kind of just joined forces into one band
like a giant transformer
tell me about selfish machines what were
you guys going for on this we were
touring for so long we wanted to make a
record that was going to be fun to play
live like we’ve been playing shows for
the last two or three years solid so we
wanted it to be energetic and fun and
that’s what we did
[Music]
I realize that’s like 80% of being in a
band is playing shows so it’s like why
not write a record that’s fun
makes sense we’re smart kids
[Music]
for someone who’s not seen the live show
how would you describe it we try to put
on a show exactly that you know it’s not
just playing songs from the CD I think
we’ve worked the hardest on that putting
putting together a fun show for kids to
like remember you know every time my
kid’s gonna see us again I think it’s
gonna be something totally new just like
the same way we like to build our albums
into bitter bigger and better things we
like to build our show bigger every tour
so it’s like it gets like something more
special every time I think we’re gonna
go for new looks – I think we’re I’m
gonna try – growing a beard and like a
big mustache for the next record did
that backwards you did beard and
mustache
[Music]
in terms of songs that you guys kind of
cover I mean I think unless I’m mistaken
you kind of incorporate some like rap
and hip-hop in your live show I like
singing those kind of songs when like I
feel like the lyrics are like really
cool and like I feel that our band could
actually like pull it off you know
I think it’s fun to do that kind of
stuff live because like people who don’t
know who we are we’re just like rolling
up like can just have still have a good
time and actually sing something and
have fun with us so brings everyone
together really nice
what are you incorporating into the show
right now guess you’d have to come a
Warped Tour 2010 to find out on YouTube
pretty quick do right now and 30 second
thank you very much guys very much
