this swedish indie trio is one of the
most innovative bands and music today hi
I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
with peter bjorn and john
now many people have said that your new
album living thing is quite different
from your previous album would you agree
with this and how would you say so I
think it’s kind of similar to it it’s a
constant progression now there were some
things we started to work on already on
earlier albums they can this kind of
arrangements and this kind of way of
playing our songs so to me it’s not
really a new thing I think it’s similar
how would you say that your music has
evolved from album to album from start
we didn’t really know where we would go
with the stuff and what was ours and
what was someone else’s you know but now
we have a I think we have a really
unique sound and we can see people
ripping off some of that and that’s fun
you know I think we come a long way to
be only in the fifth album it’s a new
kind of sound no one does this
now what were you guys going for on the
new record in each song there should be
things that really draws him that like
makes your ears focus it’s like focused
funny now you guys you mix a lot of
different styles of music like calypso
and you covered yellow how would you
describe the music that comes out of
that it’s not very interesting it’sit’s
pop music that’s enough because that’s a
very broad term so it can cover a lot of
different Chong rates and fields so
that’s what we do classic pop songs I
think we’ve tried to treat every song as
a little nugget you know when you find
this great songs is here every song has
a little like twist and an identity so
we try to make every song to have like a
super nice identity it’s like I read
about the Paul Smith you know the
British designer classic with a twist
this is training I’ve seen you use a
cardboard box as a drum have you ever
used any other things as instruments we
hate going to music stores because at
least inspiring miliaria we’re all go to
the dumpster or to your grandfather’s
basement and then you can create
something out of that
how would you say that your albums
translate to the live show if you have
heard a record that you recognize the
songs but it’s a new feeling I think
when you go to the shows and in some way
I think it’s better actually it’s more
energetic it’s more about spur of the
moment and you know kicking off of the
audience and of each other so you don’t
really know what’s going to happen and
that’s a nice feeling thank you very
much thank you
