these Canadian alt-rockers are getting
right back to their roots with their
seventh studio album hi I’m Rebecca
Brayton and welcome to watchmojo.com and
today we’re speaking with Jeremy Taggart
drummer for our lady peace
so we notice that a lot of bands that
we’re popular in the 90s aren’t together
anymore what keeps you guys fresh
there’s always reasons for bands that to
break up and we’ve had problems that
other bands have probably broken up from
you know the big picture is to
communicate and realize that that’s life
you know stuff happens people say things
you know when you play music if you
respect the musicians you play with it’s
always going to be fine you know because
if you think somebody’s not very good at
what they do then it’s not going to work
but that’s not the case with us throw
away the radio suitcase keeps you away
there any songs you’re just sick of
playing there’s some songs that you just
don’t play you know there’s songs that
we’ve never played as a band that’s
crazy to think that that was going to
happen early on that we’d have songs
that we’ve never even bother like you
know trying to work up and get ready
live it’s pretty funny
on this record that never really
happened you know and that was kind of a
mindset with the fact that it’s kind of
based on the live performance of us
that’s why there’s no real throwaway
kind of tracks you know all you did was
I know a lot of people say that the last
two albums were kind of a radical
departure from your previous work now is
burn burn continuing on that vein I
think in terms of the personality of the
individuals and the band this record
kind of speaks more like our first few
records because on the last couple
records things were kind of really
simplified you know and not just the
vocals and stuff but everything behind
it from guitars and drums and bass and
that was amazing and it was a for a
purpose you know and we totally achieved
that and on this record because it was
US making it together there was just an
element of everybody else in it more
prevalent
and how would you say your musics
evolved since you guys started i think
we’ve hopefully gotten better you know
as musicians i think you know the fact
that we’ve always tried to work hard and
try to push each other and the fact that
we’re not really happy if things aren’t
feeling good guess our sound has evolved
just by virtue the fact that we’ve
constantly tried to you know if not grow
learn other things
thank you very much thank you thank you
