for the most part his focus indie music
is uplifting
hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com we were at warped her this
year where we spoke with nevershoutnever
about his album what is love
tell us a bit about what is love kind of
what you were going for on that album
kind of where the title came from that
kind of thing I was just kind of
confused done work where my life was my
parents had just got a divorce I just
broke up with a girlfriend that I had
for like two and a half years and it was
just like a really hard time I just
wanted to write an album about like all
the stresses that I had going on at that
time you know and put him in like happy
melodies and things like that
put it all comes down to the white your
pain do any of the individual songs have
kind of an interesting origin story I
love you 5 is kind of funny I love you 5
I mean my friends would always say like
yo let’s go to taco bell and then we’d
be like me five you know like instead of
like me to I want to come just put five
and like every number has every number
for some reason we were successful the
number five I just want to write a song
I love you 5 just cuz I got to stony one
night and it just popped in my head and
I was like that be so funny I love you
at more
now a lot of you sounds are pretty short
is there do you have a specific reason
for this I just remember not me when we
get through songs when I was a kid you
know I mean like getting about two and a
half minutes and being like okay switch
next song you know also in the 50s they
did that a lot you know a lot of like
number one singles were like under under
like two minutes like 1 30 or two like
150 you know I just think it’s easy that
way it’s easier to remember and it’s
kind of catchy er you know you don’t to
listen as long
now you’re talking about a lot of your
musics kind of happier and stuff but
there are some kind of more melancholy
songs like you mentioned like the past I
think tell us kind of how the writing of
these differs for you I try to feel
happy all the time you know i mean
that’s like the goal it’s like live the
happiest life possible you know then
things sometimes things will get to you
you know and you’ll be sad and my main
way to express and get out those
terrible feelings and like just playing
united man just because it’s I’m not the
best talker the best writer but like
whenever I can have a guitar I can just
let it out you know
oh well thank you very much totally head
on to look up to
