Interview with Manchester Orchestra

this indie rock band may be named after
an English city but it originated in
Atlanta Georgia hi my name is stephanie
and welcome to watchmojo.com and today
we’re speaking with manchester orchestra
but she knows someone in command I
breathe just saw anyone I’d like to
start with the origin story of the band
so could you tell us how you guys got
together and II started the band our
lead singer in like 2005 when he was in
high school and then we all played
together as kids and we all knew each
other like in different bands I joined
in 2006 and we kind of just all came
together from different things like
Timmy’s to play another band that we
toured with in the early years yeah we
all come from similar backgrounds in
like paths and I think we all just sort
of have found Andy through years of you
know and being in the music scene and
knowing a lot of the same people we know
Oh
let’s talk about simple math what are
some of the main ideas or the themes
behind this record it’s sort of Andy
kind of like the way he explains our at
least I’ve heard of explain some of AZ
jumps between dialogue between him and
his wife like it’s sort of a very
relationship based trip and driven
record in all its concepts it’s either
you know he’s either talking to Amy his
wife you know God or some other person
that ski not been close to him and his
life have been there and some sort of
pivotal emotional point we can hear it
in the lyrics i think a lot yeah pretty
literal i think in the record it’s very
much like when he said certain things
it’s definitely like a specific moment
that a lot of people don’t wouldn’t know
he’s actually talking about because they
were really there for it but we’re all
so close that we kind of like as he was
riding the record we were just like oh
he’s talking about that okay I remember
that moment or things like that but yeah
it’s very a relationship and God
how would you describe a Manchester
Orchestra live show for someone who’s
never been we definitely turn it up Andy
turns in his guitar up so loud so it’s
basically just everybody trying to like
get as loud as he gets
I know a lot of bands say that they’re
loud when they play we might not be the
loudest but we’re definitely we’re up
there I mean we can you turn up there’s
most nights my ears are ringing
afterwards you know so loud could have
just kept it to one word
are you guys avid social media users do
use that to interact with your friends
yeah I don’t really know how to quite
yet i’m trying i think we’re all trying
really hard like I’ll see a tweet and
I’m like I don’t really know what to say
to that but like I should say something
cuz they like directed it there’s the
whole app thing and it’s like yeah see
it show it’s weird it’s weird cuz
sometimes it’s like I I have paid it and
then also understand you know how it’s
necessary these days feel like you know
all interactive with your fans and
things like by the way by the way Tim’s
really new to this whole thing like this
whole twitter yet like that’s like
throwing him under the bus that’s great
well thank you so much good that’s right
