with a cult-like following of Jai hard
fans this band have always given back to
their supporters
hi my name is stephanie and welcome to
watchmojo.com we spoke to monkey and ray
from corn to learn about how the
Internet has affected their career and
the importance of staying in touch with
their fans
so you guys often do live chats with
your fans you’ve also I’ve seen you have
I think it’s a contest where you let
your friends be roadies for a day can
you tell me what it means to give back
to your fans in this way I think just to
show our appreciation keep them involved
in what we do on a day-to-day basis I
think there’s a misconception about rock
stars and the way we live our life
people feeding is great sipping a get
onstage slam bottle of Jack Daniels all
of that did happen at one point you know
but we work really hard let’s go go
it’s cool to see the fans i get to get
an insight on what goes on like that one
person of the day and they go tell all
their friends like you know but it’s not
as luxurious as they may think you know
they’re like cleaning my drums it’s not
exactly glamorous but it’s cool because
a lot of people are only on that side of
the fence you never get to have that
pass
back in the nineteen ninety-eight the
band had an online show called corn TV
which was one of the first times that
musicians use the internet in this way
what do you guys think about how the
role the Internet has changed these days
in terms of music marketing it’s made
music more accessible so I think there’s
people are more into music now but
they’re also more into not paying for it
which is whatever I mean they still show
up at the shows you know you can’t
replace I think a live show but also I
think as a promotional tool has made
people really friggin lazy it’s like
technology man that goes all the way
back to the dishwasher i remember in
early 80s when drum machines came out
and my some of my friends i played drums
like Oh Jude just drum she was like no
don’t you trip it because no one can
ever replace ya feeling the human
interaction and I think that’s what the
internet is kind of removed from people
human interaction oh I added 300 people
on my on my website today it would be
more effective if you went and handed
out 300 people flyers you know like
that’s how we did it in the day you know
I think that’s still really effective
something we’re still into it you know
so I still we know we do standings every
day and if they bring in vinyl up and
they love to hold it did in their hands
well people don’t even know who produced
a record let alone who’s in the band
these days you know they just buy that
one or two songs and so it’s kind of
weird
thank you so much guys thank you guys
thank you for support
