welcome to watchmojo.com i’m your host
dave and today we’re talking to hip hop
recording artist and harmonica player
bad news brown why don’t you take me
back to the beginnings where it all
started well i was born in haiti and i
didn’t stay in haiti for a very long
time most of my other brothers and
sisters were from orphanages and stuff
and my family were the ones that opened
the adoptions from canada to haiti they
successfully got over a thousand six
hundred and some other families and
children out of the slums of haiti think
upon us what were some of your
influences growing up what kind of hip
hop did you listen to probably my first
hip-hop CDs were like Public Enemy rock
am Karis one I wasn’t planning on
becoming a hip hop artist Norah I’m
Monica player I don’t read the right
music when I first came in with Raj was
a big hip-hop vibe it was old school it
was there was d’Epinay or was he was
fresh you know there was a different
vibe of different culture in a sense you
know what end up happening is I just
started listening to it and I got
consumed by the love of hip-hop I guess
you never say oh no at what point did
the harmonica come into it when did you
pick it up I used to rap freestyle
battles and do all that back in the days
and I realized that everybody was a
rapper so I realized i was still in a
rat race you know i decided to step out
of the zone and step out of this thing
called society in my own little
depression started playing a harmonica
forefront
this lady I don’t know where it came up
to me at midnight like 1130 in middle of
Timbuktu where I waiting for a bus and
she’s telling me all my grandfather used
to played harmonica and unfortunately
you know I used to I used to kind of
beat that bad kid in that sense you know
so normally older people wouldn’t walk
up to me at midnight in the dark when
I’m wearing hoodie and stuff like that
so I realized that this thing is like it
could connect people just to sound so I
started right away dropping beat boxes
with it and then trying to make it do
some hip-hop stuff and I ended up
playing in the street and in the metro
and that’s how I ended up happening it
was just a fluke people tripped out and
I ran with it and I’m saying I don’t
want nobody to take that spot from me
you know me so I just ran with it
so tell me about the new album talk
about maybe some of the producers
working with scratch bastard big
shout-out to scratch bastard I did two
joints for him whereas I use him as lead
vocalist as I we say fuck the main
producer on album is a hey peg bean and
then we got dirt works we got para fino
these are like people that I grew up
with people that I’ve known for a long
time that I respect the music I respect
their art and so I want to go check that
instead of going to pay people big bucks
for just for the name when I could get
the same product from my my mountain
circle really I just matched everything
together and try to make it as
commercial as possible but as raw as
possible for me just to still have fun
while I’m doing my thing and it’s my
first album so I’m not expecting to
become Michael Jackson and I’m like that
you know saying but I’m definitely
hoping to have a career in this game and
then go on for a long time and play
music have fun meet people in a sense
part you know say thank you very much
