iris and making
so I wanted to talk a bit about this on
iris of course which of course a very
successful song yeah so but it’s still
successful today it’s just resonates
with people so why do you think Oh buzz
I don’t know that’s one of those songs
it was like you know lightning striking
and then everybody going wow that was
amazing do it again yeah well I don’t
know how to do it again
I think it’s just that it’s got very
sort of very simple basic emotional sort
of theme to it that I think everyone can
relate to

I was wondering how do you approach
writing a song in four movies because
you’ve done you know several of them
versus approaching songwriting with the
Goo Goo Dolls I like it because I’m sort
of playing a supporting role and I’m
there to sort of help the music
supervisor and the director fulfill
their vision of what’s going on lactase
disease I like to read the script I like
to talk to the director and talk to the
music supervisor really sort of try to
create like kind of like a psychological
profile of who or what what are we
singing about here who are we singing
about what’s it you know just finding
out weird things you know about you know
something about the character me
something about the character that
nobody would know and then kind of
trying to weave that into something that
fits and you know and but doesn’t step
on top of whatever’s going on when
everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know
as far as I know that you guys have
never really broken up or taking any
long hi this is I was wondering you know
what keeps you guys going and why do you
think you’ve been able to be so
successful together for so long you know
I mean you know it’s just just being
determined to make it work that’s that
that’s that’s it really we’re just
determined to make it work and you know
everybody gets along pretty well most of
the time so so at least lately Hannah
cuz I love Ben
do I love most about making music you
know like the fact that I can inject
myself into people’s lives in a very
small way and when they relate their
stories back to me it’s it’s it’s really
satisfying
