widely regarded as one of the best new
death metal bands decrepit birth has
been receiving a claim from both fans
and peers alike
hi I’m Joe hadena welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re gonna be
interviewing California’s decrepit birth
does the name decrepit birth have any
significance to the musical or lyrical
themes I used to just write I did ideas
I’d write out stories so to speak you
know not rhyming I had a song was just
about the earth evolving decrepit birth
referred to analytic and a song when man
came onto the planet and just started
doing this thing altering you know like
nature’s nature humans have human nature
it’s just what we what we do we coincide
outside of it you know but within it and
I threw the name up you know decrepit
birth for some reason
a lot of people of my misconstrue
decrepit birth I mean it does sound a
bit on the gory side we’ve never been a
Gore band I’ve always kind of looked at
decrepit birth is kind of like it’s just
being born into a world that’s kind of
dying and decaying and you know the
traditions of man I’ve kind of brought
down the surroundings of the earth
around us what were some of your
influences starting out not necessarily
musically but even non musically well me
and him write lyrics sometimes they’ve
enough to ask him did i write this did
you write this we write so much alike so
our concept just kind of evolved on its
own kind of leave it up to the fans to
figure the concept out I get a kick
sometimes out of here and what kids
think it’s about it’s a good tangent
their clothes and even me I can’t say I
know what it’s about it’s just a
science-fiction kind of interspace outer
space relative kind of thing you know
inside everyone’s relative there are a
lot of misconceptions when it comes to
metal a lot of people who don’t really
listen to metal they tend to kind of
slam everything under one big category
how would you guys set yourself apart it
seems like these days a lot of bands are
kind of like forgetting that about music
first and not about how many notes I can
fit in it’s not so much about all the
technique stuff
and it comes down to writing good songs
or more of pleasing ourselves as
musicians first and hopefully the fans
liked it and so far it’s been it’s been
pretty positive is there anything on
your new album that you’re doing
differently or similarly I think a big
difference is that we have two new
members Joel and Dan who used to be an
odious mortem style was I would say is
going to be similar to the last album
diminishing we’re really trying to just
kind of really put in whatever we feel
like I mean I feel like we’ve kind of
always tried to fit into this death
metal mold we’re now if it’s a good riff
and it sounds like you know something
maybe that Metallica or Megadeth will
play and it just makes you bang your
head I say go for it man
thanks guys thank you nice to meet you
you
