I started from the part where I left off
this band has been together since 2004
and their music is pretty intense hi I’m
Maya pure and welcome to watchmojo.com
and today we’re talking to circa survive
to learn more about their new record
tell us who you are in the band what
instrument you play and a fun fact about
yourself I’m Brendan I play guitar I got
nothing fun right now this is Colin he
plays a guitar too I have a blind cat
if you guys were to describe your music
to a grandmother how would you describe
your music I think if we were going to
explain it to a grandmother we were just
a rock and roll it’s loud and passionate
so tell us about your new album blue sky
noise and I read that you’re trying to
approach this is a new chapter can you
talk about this for a moment as far as
this new record goes I think this was a
the biggest step as far as our
communication goes and really getting
every person in the band involved and
you know we’re capable of that so from
where do you guys draw inspiration I
heard that some of your songs were
inspired by movies on his past record
the movie there will be blood kind of
seemed to trickle into some of the songs
in the past eternal sunshine of the
spotless mind we also had a song that’s
named after the book house of leaves
even though the title is not actually on
the record so gather there’s lots of
other other media that’s inspirational
to us
what’s your relationship like with your
fans the fans are half of the band and
that’s why I like on the first record in
the in the leg thank you is it’s just
like circa survive is and it’s like the
band and then everybody that’s involved
with the band and then like just
everybody you know everybody that
listens everybody that does everything
we’re not higher up than you we’re no
we’re no better than you we’re just
doing what we love to do and we want you
to do that too so like try to inspire
that it’s kind of like a kill your idols
saying almost you know like we all came
from that very small place and we all
remember it and I think in a sense will
always be most comfortable there like
playing the tiny venues being able to
shake everybody’s hand afterwards
so thank you very much for talking to us
and it’s a pleasure to meet you guys it
was awesome thank you
