Warped Tour this year and speak with
Jersey and Cassidy from hey Monday
we always like to start with the origin
stories of the bands that we introduce
to want to tell us how Hey Monday
originally I went to high school with
Alex and Pat so right there just few
people that I knew that played music
already and a different local band
and Mike and I used to play in a
different local bands but that band
broke up so we called up Alex and pad
and kind of just decided to start
playing Jersey came into it a little
later he he worked for Columbia as an
intern since they were you know signing
us they said oh do you need help finding
a basis we know somebody and he moved
down to Florida for a few months and
practiced and we all hit it off and the
rest is history what kind of music did
you all grow up listening to like you
know icons idols influences that kind of
thing one of the biggest for me was
Michelle Branch and Avril Lavigne as far
as bands blink-182 you found Laurie I
was a big radio kid so any anything that
was on the radio I was usually super
into
what benefits have you guys seen to
having a female vocalist it sets us
apart from a lot of the bands that we
are you know in a particular scene with
you know it also kind of brings us
closer to the other bands with female
singers because I guess we kind of all
get it not that there’s anything extra
to totally get you have those all dude
bands that are like oh so who gets with
the singer and then you go oh it’s just
totally not like that you
and I’m sure you get it a lot it’s tough
being the only girl there are times
where I’m like you know kind of wish I
had my own like room right now so I can
just walk around in my underwear not
worry look at me clearly she’s not the
only girl
I don’t really see it as being the only
girl I mean the only times I see that is
when I’m going through girly stuff and I
don’t have any girls around but then
again they’re always there for me anyway
