these two career musicians came together
and are now creating spectacular and
catchy pop tunes hi I’m Rebecca Braden
and welcome to watchmojo.com and today
we’re speaking with ash koley standing
up straight in 10 feet I like this tell
us about the band’s origin story a
mutual friend brought her by the studio
he saw her singing in a karaoke contest
or something like that a nation’ ever
does karaoke so I’m so surprised that
she was doing that I was writing a song
at the time she walked in she sang on it
and she just sounded incredible and we
pretty much forged a very good
friendship and then started writing
music and that’s been just over five
years
and who do you count as kind of your
idols icons in terms of vocalists or
songwriters for me at sava I mean their
songwriting is so amazing what they were
going through personally in life they
wrote songs about which is you know
maybe why everybody relates to it and
they were having a divorce they were
going to write about heartbreak and if
they were happy they were gonna write a
happy song for me it’s Peter Gabriel you
know I hate for a lot of the same
reasons whatever he was going through in
life he heard about and we got the
opportunity to share it with them and
some to some degree
and offer us when we write it’s really
important to us that we’re really honest
and that to the music that we’re putting
forth these our personalities and I
think the same can be said for Peter
Gabriel and the same can be said for
alla I guess that’s one of the reasons
why we’re influenced by them
how would you say you to complement each
other I mean what does each of you bring
to the band that the other does not ash
is a singer and I’m a songwriter
producer and an instrumentalist so I
suppose that we’re kind of the perfect
fit every quality that either of us
don’t have the other does so it makes
for a perfect team
how would you describe your sound to
let’s say my grandmother I’d say it’s
very pop and it’s positive mostly
uplifting stuff it’s gonna make you feel
good right the genre of music we are and
just like any songwriters you can’t help
but be you know just channeling your
influences because that’s what you grew
up listening to it just like your
earlier question so I think we’re pretty
much putting forth grandma you know is
all the stuff we grew up listening to
and and we hope you like it
