fire in their studio caused this band to
regroup and rename themselves doves hi

with andy williams from the been growing
up in Manchester which were from buns
line new order and miss Smith’s
definitely shaped us there was a record
label call Factory Records much a very
strong identity and that that was
definitely really formative for us you
know it was just people in your town new
city who are out there doing that
I’ve seen you guys described I’m sorry
to say this as miserable or miserable
lists it’s not to worry miserable anyone
who knows us knows when our priorities
is up in a good laugh come back to bands
like The Smiths enjoy division they will
categorize the same but if you knew
those people and the lyrics and stuff
and it was definitely a real sense of
humor going on I think it’s kind of lazy
journalism really just you know because
maybe some of the muses can I got a
melancholic edge to it that they’re
miserable certainly don’t feel miserable
I’ve heard you guys are really into kind
of the sequencing and the order of the
songs on a record we were concerned
right up until the end of last year with
the songs we sort of decided to have on
the record it would have to diverse but
we found a way of compiling of those
songs by just trying a lot of different
orders and we’ve actually found an order
which will float luckily for us you get
the wrong track order it can really mess
up a record do you still here sub sub in
the doves music at all yeah I mean it’s
been said on this record that the kind
of pass was sub sub has been the most
kind of prominent you know although the
band names changed you know definitely
our attitude hasn’t
in terms of the fire do you think that
you guys would be making the same kind
of music that you are now if it weren’t
for that turning point maybe yeah
because before the fire happened we
would change him musically on the way we
were getting quite bored relief you’re
not sitting around the computer and
sample as been doing it for quite a few
years and it started becoming a bit
stagnant you know our first bands we
play drums and guitars and we can we put
that down from quite a few years with
sub stuff but it wasn’t really exciting
as anymore and so before the fire for
like a year or two we were stunned you
know trying to attempt more kind of song
based material but I think the fire
definitely you know you do or die really
it was either like we stopped all you
really make a go of this
do you guys still feel jinxed well
generally been very lucky really did

records little is the closest in the UK
history of charts the two records so we
were like looking up to conquer what’s
going on it but now that I mean really
we really feel blaster able to go out
touring and people want to come and see
