Interview With Airbourne

there’s enough problems in the world you
know our jobs just to make sure at the
end of the day people can have a good
time hailing from small-town Australia
these rockers are following a tradition
of Awesome pub rock hi I’m Rebecca
Braden and welcome to watchmojo.com and
today we’re speaking with Joel and Ryan
O’Keefe from airborne Jamaica I read
that you guys had trouble finding
like-minded musicians in your hometown
it wasn’t exactly a rock and roll town
you know it’s strange it’s like if there
was two other rock guys in that one town
managed to find both of them what was
the scene like there and what is the
scene like that I think it was I guess
it was a sort of a funky pop kind of
scene it wasn’t really rock and roll we
were sort of its orbit just what we’re
pretty extreme about when we play rock
and roll we’re pretty go pretty hard at
it cuz we just it started out horrible
with it wasn’t he so it’s just gonna go
back
we used to have cops around at our house
a lot for playing but then we just start
to know the police on a first-name basis
and it was ok that’s how you know you’re
rocking hey
obviously you’ve been compared to a CDC
quite a bit wow I like your philosophy
on the comparisons even Australian band
coming out of Australia or any band in
this day and age and you come out you
will be compared to somebody because
yeah that’s how it is and be compared to
the best rock and roll band and to only
be compared to the best rock and roll
band it’s the best compliment you could
ever have I mean there’s a lot of bands
that come out through the mid nineties
to sounded like what that you would
never ever want to be compared to acac a
true hard-working rock and roll band and
yeah where we love simple drums just not
trying to do anything fancy just meat
and potatoes rock and roll
now you guys have a new album out soon
what can we expect from this new album
rock and roll rock and roll you get more
of the band this time around I think we
slept in the studio for one word just a
lot of things that went into this that
we were more involved with it so it’s
more of the band caught on tape
I wanted to ask you guys about sleeping
in the studio how does that affect the
outcome of music it was great to
actually be that involved with the
record and you know after it was done I
think we sort of said that we probably
do it again I know one night we draw a
huge hole through the wall with it one
of the construction guys does we’re from
upstairs so and we put it in amplifier
on the other side and then put a market
with just one mic in that room and just
created a better sound and those kind of
things happen when you’re involved with
the record that much
if your music was the soundtrack to a
movie what would that movie give boat
maybe diehard Lethal Weapon mix with
airheads I would see that movie haha
thanks very much guys no worries
you
