Interview with A Day to Remember

this band loves to mash up different
musical styles and has charmed a loyal

Braden and welcome to watchmojo.com and
this year we checked out warp tour where
we spoke with Kevin from a day to
remember
Kevin from a data remember play guitar I
just saw that bird come out of a tree
that was really weird and i also have
night terrors oh yeah it’s really freaky
i wake up my band like kicking my bunk
and punching stuff i don’t even wake up
from it so like in the morning my dad
members tell me about how awesome my
freakout was
according to your Wikipedia page you
guys are considered an amalgamation of
metalcore and pop up do you agree with
this or not well since wikipedia tells
the truth on just about everything I
guess I have to know I don’t know we’re
like a bunch of crazy stuff we’re like
five bands in one and we just have fun
with a bunch of different genres and
it’s kind of whatever comes natural at
the time that we’re writing so we’re not
trying to be anything in particular we
kind of do what we want to do and those
far it’s worked out how do you like to
describe it if you were forced to like
if your grandmother was like what kind
of music do you play oh if my
grandmother asked I just a hard rock did
I grandma it’s hard rock like who
you’ve only been in the van for a few
years but even as an outsider how do you
think the band has evolved from album
the album when I was on the outside I
listened to for those who have heart
because I was like the first victory
release and I was on the same label at
the time and I listened to it and I at
first I really didn’t get it sounds like
what the hell did they do because I was
just a fan of like straight metal I was
like I don’t know but then it just
started growing on me and like I started
becoming friends with them played more
shows with them and I started getting it
and then went home sick they sent me
home sick because I had to learn 15
songs overnight to come like the info I
think that you know a data members sound
is not perfected but you know we’re get
we’re getting there on homesick and then
what separates me from you it was kind
of more of like a rock album and we’re
gonna kind of go back to the old like
kind of homesick style for the new
record where we’re just going to have a
lot of fun we feel like a lot of bands
these days just they take it too
seriously and there’s not enough fun in
music so that’s what we’re going to try
to do on the noon we’re gonna go back to
fun
where does a lot of the writing happen
we are forced to write on the road
because our twittering schedule so
insane like we finally have a month off
coming up after this but it’s after
eight months of touring straight so
we’re definitely excited but it’s really
funny because we’ve already filled that
time with scheduling studio time for
demos and stuff so we don’t really take
breaks and we write constantly always
like I have voice memos on my phone
where I’m just like singing guitar parts
so it never stops really it’s wherever
whenever and just want to hit you that’s
when we write
