How to Perform CPR on a Baby

so maybe you can tell us a bit more
about what the pocket mask is sure so
basically where does is it’s the one of
your best ways of preventing disease
from you transmitting to the victim and
from the victim transmitting to you so
it’s actually a really neat thing and it
covers the mouth and the nose and
there’s also a removable one-way valve
that comes with it and what this does is
it prevents any fluids such as vomit
spit so on and so forth from entering
into your mouth so it’s a great very
device to have so it seems obvious to
say that conducting CPR on a baby for
instance is somewhat different right
lately yeah because they have such a
smaller body they have to adjust
ourselves so if we had a baby here who
wasn’t moving it would to follow the
same first primary steps as you would
for an adult so you would check your
scene and make sure everything’s okay
and if it was any would approach what
I’m going to do is is that if I saw the
baby fall unconscious I will take the
baby and go myself to go and call 911
with them but if I didn’t see what
happened what I’m going to do is I’m
going to perform CPR if necessary for
two minutes first and then go and call
here i have my pocket mask and i’m going
to use it a little bit differently on an
infant ok so what we’re going to do is
we’re actually going to turn upside down
and half the pointy part on their chin
rather than the adults and the child and
head it this way ok and we’re actually
going to cover their whole face with it
alright so we’re going to give them two
breasts just very small ones just a puff
of air they’re very small lumps ok
so you just have to blow just a little
bit and let’s continue with our 30
compressions 1 2 3 4 5 29 Jordy now
let’s say you didn’t have a pocket ask
what you would do is you would put your
mouth completely over the baby’s nose
and mouth into a dress that way and then
continue 30 compressions 1 2 3 hi so you
would continue doing 30 compressions and
2 breaths until there was a change in
the situation such as the beating
vomited or the baby woke up or the
ambulance came and was there to help you
up that’s pretty much it
