hi I’m PGA member Jay golden and welcome
to watchmojo.com today I’m going to talk
about the LOB shot a lob shot is a shot
that goes extremely high and a very
short distance if the pin is on the very
front of the green and there’s a sand
trap in front of the green or for some
other reason with ruff in front of the
green you need a really high shot this
is the way to hit a lob shot number one
you want to open up the clubface at
address so that it’s aiming way open to
the right and it’s almost facing the sky
not quite but almost facing the sky now
from that position you aim to the left
of the hole on a shot here that’s about
70 feet I would aim about 5 feet left of
the hole when you hit the ball and this
is extremely important the club head
goes low going back load through the
ball with almost no divot and then low
in your follow-through you’re sliding
under the ball and you’re doing it not
in a very slow manner almost like you’re
striking a match so if I open the
clubface aim left and then go low to low
and strike that match there is a high
soft shot those are the basic
fundamentals of this shot but the final
one as you know when you try to hit a
lob shot if you hit the ball fin and
skull the ball will how it goes flying
way past the hole there for the last
load in your mind is if you’re going to
swing a little too high and scull it or
a little too low and hit the grass you
swing a little too low because with that
clubface open even if you hit a little
too low that club will glide right
through that graft am left open the
clubface low to low and if I’m going to
be too high or too low I’m gonna be too
low and those are the fundamentals of
the LOB shot try it I think you’ll like
it
