Alexisonfire called it quits in August
2011 with some band members leaving to
focus on side projects hi I’m Rebecca
Brayton and welcome to watchmojo.com I
got the chance to speak with lead singer
George Pettit and happier times and we
spoke about those side projects and
their potential effects on Alexisonfire
so I know a lot of or most of if not all
the band members have kind of side
projects as well a lot of bands break up
for reasons what such as side projects
but what do you think makes you guys
stand apart the side projects are just a
means for us to get the ideas that we
know won’t fit and Alexisonfire
you know Dallas doing city in color kind
of ensures that there won’t be a banjo
part on an Alexisonfire record you know
we don’t try to unnecessarily push in or
like those certain influences that we
know just won’t work you know Wade can
do the black lungs and there won’t be
like a punky reggae part and
Alexisonfire song I can do Bergenfield
for and and Jordan can do Hunter and we
can just you know I don’t know it’s just
we all listen to so much music and I
would hate to be kind of tied down to
one style and yeah you hear something
you want to play you want to play I
would never tell any of those guys not
to do it as far as breaking up you know
Alexisonfire is the hub it’s like the
hub of what we do it
God gave us our start it get it’s the
reason why we can do side projects so
it’s if anything this has always been
the biggest priority for all of us and
then everything else is just kind of fun
stuff on the side we’re always in the
end of the day we’re all musicians and
we make whatever we feel like and this
is a very very selfish thing for us you
know and we’ve never made a record with
our fans in mind we’ve only made records
that we like that we like you know like
the way they sounded kind of
you know so I don’t know that’s it
you
