Claire I’m a principal architect

is Anna Goodson and i am CEO of Anna
gitsune management and I’m a mentor with
founder fuel
I think what founder fuel is doing here
in Montreal is fantastic I think we need
to help the new generation of
entrepreneurs as a Canadian as well I
make sure that the best innovation comes
from this country so being involved
locally with the accelerators like
founder feel is great for us I built my
company my first company when I was 17 I
was a first year student at McGill
University I can say that’s any success
i had with that business was based on
great mentorship great advice that i got
and so the fact that we’re actually
presenting and curating great mentors
and kind of delivering them to these
entrepreneurs I thought it was a
tremendous program a common mistake
entrepreneurs make is we underestimate
the critical milestones that you need to
be viewed as success so sometimes
somebody building a tool for ad agencies
is going to say and when we have 10 ad
agencies doing such and such and I’m
like whoa time out what makes you think
one ad agency is going to take your call
let alone adopt your product but very
often Lee we think we have a must-have
because it’s great but it’s not because
it’s great that people need it and it’s
not because it’s cool that people need
it I think entrepreneurs fall in love
with the first idea i think they also
fall in love with with believing that
they know something that no one else
knows most common mistake LC is lack of
connection to the market like being in
their own cubicle or wherever basement
developing the solution that they think
is the greatest thing since sliced bread
and not really trying to vet it with
somebody who’s going to try to pay for
that solution is something that to me is
a great opportunity lost a great waste
of time the most common mistakes I think
that entrepreneurs tend to make is that
they go on to business to make money I
don’t think that that should be your
main ambition number one mistake is to
coming in and saying I know everybody’s
going to want my solution doesn’t matter
what you say
my advice to entrepreneurs really is be
flexible I think that I’ve done for
companies and I’ve never done my plan a
I’ve always done Plan B or C adapt don’t
get hung up on an idea because you
thought it was a good idea yesterday
just move along with what the market is
looking for be focused on what you’re
trying to do and don’t try to spread
yourself too large in any project you
always going to have more reason to stop
than to continue so you need to continue
anyways every difficult moment that I
experienced as many times as i wanted to
quit and get out those are pug nose
valuable moments for me all of the
challenges every door that closes
another one opens find an industry that
is ripe for change there’s a lot of
these what I would call a dinosaur
industries you can go in there and
challenge the status quo I think that’s
awesome
