let’s talk about your most recent
release and how it kind of represents
the evolution of Downey yeah vol 2 is
definitely a little more grown up but
that’s not to say that we’ve necessarily
grown up well we’ve matured from when we
wrote like the volume 1 was like you
know some of those songs and I was
written in 2006 like yeah so I mean like
it’s been some time we’ve all changed
and gotten a bit older and so it’s a
good representation of where we are as a
band at people right now this L
translates really well alive to it’s
about a big ethnic feels lots of big
guitars it’s really fun to play
now if I’m not mistaken you guys just
filmed a video yes we did yeah there are
third royalty yeah a third single
royalty that was crazy it was an awesome
video we got to work with this new
director chris wong what’s up he’s great
check him out and it was just really
cool because it’s the first video we’ve
really done that hasn’t had like a real
narrative or like you know direct
storyline it’s more like there’s a lot
of imagery and like things like that so
it was really cool to have a video that
looked so different and new oh yeah I
got to shoot fire out of my guitar in
school yeah don’t seem to look some
stuff we burnt some stuff
you guys are embarking on a big US tour
how do you prepare for something like
that we love it so much and we do it so
often that it’s like it’s more just like
it’s normal everyday life it’s like
preparing for you know getting up in the
morning you know it’s not much really
prepared but by a ton of clean socks I
want to say you don’t have to use throw
them out every day and what else about
it basic don’t miss the bus okay that’s
it yeah don’t miss the bus I’ve been
left behind a couple time left Bucky and
a parking lot and maryland once– on his
birthday yeah just to throw that one in
there yeah that stung a bit
what’s your craziest fan related story
somebody broke into my not broken but
like I living in the condo building and
they like got into my condo and we’re
like you know taking shots pictures a
result of my rooftop patio and stuff
being like all right the house I’m like
oh my god I saw it on faceboook cam goes
are they at your house and I was like
whoa one time a girl tried to stow away
like on her boss doing it oh yeah we’re
going over the border and we caught him
if you’re halfway down the road were
like whoa whoa like what do you it was
bad she was in someone’s bunk like
hiding in a bunk and it was like you
have to go like we dropped her off the
side of highway said what can you at
least drive me to but like no get out of
the bus like you stole away how their
stowaway Donna but
what’s your best to her story best
tourist story of all time is like half
an hour tale of like us going to Halifax
and an RV in this kind of weather like
just idiots like Matt’s trying to break
in on back friend convinced us he had
everyone coming to the show this is
years ago we got there and it was like
the day after st. Patrick’s Day in
Halifax runs nobody came to the show he
rented out this RV well he had taken
time off work we all like we’re high it
was a big deal we were like this is good
no one came stand nobody and but what we
did is we made you know something out of
nothing we booked the club again for two
nights later and the next day we went to
like the University Library and printed
up flyers and we like me and Tyler like
stormed through all the dorm rooms at
Dalhousie like slid them under people’s
doors and the next night we sold the
place out yeah very good story that’s an
okay story and then we broke the RV on
the way I had to drive home the driving
and there was like so bad there was like
as we were driving away there was like
two meth heads trying to break into the
back of the thing and then I was driving
there holding on to the back of the
ladder while we’re driving away and then
our tour managers trying to whip them
off and busted the fender off the thing
Johnson I can’t pull out I got two
methods on the back of Jon just drive
man
