this comedian has shared the stage with
some of the biggest names in comedy hi
I’m Veronica the watchmojo.com and today
we’re getting some words of wisdom from
Ross Bennett so tell us who is Ross
Bennett well Ross Bennett is this is
just me okay
in like 1985 I changed my name to Eddie
strange because I thought that would be
good for my career but I’ve been working
as Ross Bennett again Ross Bennett’s my
real name that’s what’s on my birth
certificate and throughout your career
you came across Robin Williams often and
you say you can influence you what is it
about him as a comedian that influenced
you I’m just a small-town guy and so the
only thing I know about show business is
not from my uncle the agent it’s not
from all these people who I know were in
the business all I have is what I’ve
seen on television I’d never seen a
comedian live all I had seen was Bill
Cosby Bob Newhart you know Johnny Carson
the people on the Johnny Carson show
Steve Martin had become a big star in
the 70s and Robin Williams just exploded
he had a big effect you know I mean
partly because of his talent but one of
the stories I tell is that when I first
saw him on television I realized that
everything I thought I could do someone
could already do it ten times better
than I could ever imagine myself doing
which is a very humbling moment if I was
25 years younger I might be saying these
same things about being cooked
you scream in New York that someone has
a knife nothing no one cares how do you
structure a joke I look for something
funny something that strikes me funny
then I try and figure out a way to
relate it to people in such a way that
they see what I thought was funny every
comic no matter how no matter how far up
the scale the food chain they are we’re
all doing this the same basic thing and
that we’re trying to figure out how to
make this joke work every comedian you
ever see will always have one piece of
material we save it for the end of our
show we call it our Big Finish and it
brings an audience to an extra level of
applause and laughter now the bad news
I’ve already done my Big Finish
